Informal expression uses more flexible structure which is usually used in a daily
conversation. It also usually uses slang, colloquialism and other more flexible language
features. While formal expression uses more complex language structure such as diction,
grammatical rule, etc. formal expression commonly used in writing than speaking. It is very
important to learn both of them because we must be able to use formal and informal
expression in right condition.
2. The first sentence is informal expression because it uses flexible language feature. For
example, it is use can’t prefer to cannot. While the second is formal expressions because it
uses more complex structure. For example, it uses be able as the diction in order to make it
more polite sentence.
3. Slang and colloquialism are different. Slang is an informal type of vocabulary used in casual
conversations and recognized and understood by certain groups of people. We can find
different slang in different country. The examples of slang such as the use of slay to explain
something wonderful and the use of sus which is the short form of suspicious. While
colloquialism is everyday language used by people of a certain region. For example people in
UK use football while people in US use soccer. And the other example is the use of flat in UK
and apartment in US.
