We chose this study to help the students overcome the difficulties that they are facing in
Mathematics. Difficulties in Mathematics affects the students’ academic success, and this can
lead to low or failing grades. This will help many students to identify their struggles and what
solutions to do to overcome the difficulties they are facing.
Math concepts build upon each other, so difficulties in grade 10 can create gaps in
understanding that persist into higher levels of education, making it more challenging to grasp
advanced concepts. Struggling with math can erode students' confidence in their abilities,
leading to a reluctance to engage with the subject and participate in class, in fact, difficulties in
math can result in lower grades and overall academic performance, impacting their academic
transcript and future educational opportunities. Persistent challenges in math may cause
students to lose interest in the subject, which can hinder their motivation to learn and engage in
related topics or fields. Math skills are essential in various professions and fields, such as
science, engineering, finance, and technology. Difficulties in math may limit students' career
options and opportunities for advancement in these areas.
Mathematics in the Philippines is an important part of education and culture. It is taught from
elementary school to college and is used in many fields such as science, technology, and
business. This subject specifically used in our daily lives without knowing it, such as in
budgeting in our house expenses, counting our days in a month on the calendar, helping
teachers in calculating grades of their students and many more. Without a doubt, math impacts
money. We definitely use money in our daily lives, as it is vital to our lives. Regarding
purchasing, bills, necessities, needs, wants, transportation, and in a lot of things. We use math
in many aspects of our lives. Having financial management skills is essential and can lessen
fraud. This can also remove some financial problems in life, which can put people at ease.
Math is everywhere, and we need it to survive. Time passes by the Philippines has a deep
history in mathematics, and many Filipinos are making significant contributions to this field
around the world.
In this lite the researcher's decided to conduct this study because there are other students who
have difficulty analyzing and understanding and others have difficulty solving equations to help
them understand better and to improve and also that the teachers know what the students
struggle in mathematics so that they can understand better the lesson and so they can keep up
with our topic.

School - The significance of this study to our school is it will be known as a school that has a lot
of math achievers. When the teachers already address the difficulties faced by Grade 10
students, many students will excel in the subject Mathematics. Therefore, the school will
produce many students that got a high grades in mathematics.
Teachers - The significance of this study to our teachers is they will be able to produce more
efficient curriculum designs and they can develop their teaching strategies by looking at
research " Difficulties encounter by Grade 10 students In Mathematics". Recognizing the areas
in which students struggle can help develop materials and resources that fully address these
issues, making learning more interesting and accessible for all students. Addressing these
issues can also help students become more skilled problem solvers, equipping them for
success in both further education and the workforce by encouraging a better comprehension of
mathematical concepts and the development of critical thinking abilities.
Students - The significance of the study to our fellow students is they will be aware to the
struggles that they are facing, and they can do lots of things to overcome their struggles.
Future reseachers - The significance of this study to the future researcher is that the study may
contribute to future studies about the topic, and it can be used further by other researchers who
are interested in or closely related to the topic.

METHODOLOGY
RESEARCH DESIGN
In this study the researchers utilized a qualitative research design, qualitative research is used
in various fields such as social sciences, anthropology, psychology, market research, and
more. It involves gathering non-numerical data to understand phenomena, behaviors, and
attitudes in depth and qualitative refers to the characteristics or attributes of something that
cannot be measured with numbers. We used QUALITATIVE METHOD because here, we can
identify what struggles or difficulties does the students have encountered by the students
sharing their experiences and explaining it on their answers. A qualitative data involves
descriptions, observations, opinions, and other non-numerical data, often providing deeper
insights into a topic than quantitative data alone.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT
In this study, the researchers collected data through Google form questionnaires. The
questionnaires includes the questions (a) How does the struggles that you are facing in Math
affects your academic performance?, (b) Why do you think some students encounter difficulties
in math?, (c) What difficulties/struggles are you facing in mathematics right now?, and (d) What
strategies are you using to overcome the difficulties that you are facing in mathematics?
Here is our data gathering procedure. The researchers conducted the survey interview through
google form. It's suppose to be a hard copy questionnaire but because of the cancelation of
classes due to extreme heat, our research leader chose to conduct it online. And in making our
survey, we've encountered that no one in our group knows how to make google form. Our
survey interview is made of google form.
Our reasearch leader asks our classmate and its Elisha Bramida and she knows how to make
google form. It is also hard to find participants even though its our own section, because some
of them are just ignoring us. We distribute the google form by messenger, we've sent private
message to some of our friends in 10 Lapu Lapu.
