THE GRAND KNIGHT SAYS

Worthy Chaplain, Worthy Officers, Directors, and Brother Knights,

I hope everyone is having a fun, safe, And enjoyable summer. July was packed full of exciting events to start
our new fraternal year. Thanks to everyone that attended the Council picnic and a special thanks to all those
that planned the council picnic. The weather beautiful, music was good, and a great time was had by all. I
hear that Fr. Charles ruled the bocce ball again this year.

We will start the month of August off with a dinner in Frankenmuth on the 4th; Installation of Officers will be
on August 9th at 6:30pm. As this will be before the general membership meeting the meal will be moved to
after the meeting please plan accordingly. Officers if you are unable to attend, it is your responsibility to find
a stand in. Please plan to wear a shirt and tie for the installation. Then we will finish the month off with or
Parish family festival. If you have not made a commitment to volunteer yet please do so there is plenty of
area that could use help.

The Knights of Columbus likes to celebrate Family week each year around August 12th as this is the birthday
of the Venerable Fr. Michael J. McGivney. Family is an important part of life so I ask that each of us put some
time aside to spend with our family during this month. Whether you find the time to spend together on a
weekend trip or something simple like a Sunday dinner get together and enjoy each other’s company. While
together say a prayer as this this will help to reinforce to our children that it is ok to show their faith in a
causal setting.

I hope each of you enjoy the rest of your summer God Bless.

Vivat Jesus !

Reflections
Your Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Charles White

Worthy Brother Knights,

August is a busy month. We have our parish festival at the end of the month, of
course. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help out at our festi-
val! May God reward you for your generosity! Those who haven’t signed up to vol-
unteer yet, please consider doing so. It takes a lot of volunteers to make the festival
the wonderful event that it is.

Our parish feast day is on August 22nd, the Queenship of Mary. We will once again
have a special 7:00 PM Mass on that day to celebrate followed by a Rosary proces-
sion around the block. Come join us to help celebrate our Blessed Mother on this
our parish Patronal Feast!

August 15th is the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of
Obligation. We will have a Mass at 7:00 PM the evening before and the day of. Lots
of opportunities to honor Our Blessed Mother in this month of August. May Our La-
dy, Queen of Creation pray for us, our families, and our parish!

At the beginning of this month we will have our Installation of Officers. Thank you
to all our out-going Officers for all that you have done to support and grow our
Council! Thank you to all the newly elected Officers for being willing to step up and
help guide our Council! May God bless you in your efforts this upcoming fraternal
year!
Know of my prayers for you and for your families.

Vivat Jesus!

August Membership Corner

August Membership Corner

Welcome to our new Brother Knight Steven Jewell! We had a several of our Brother Knights
attend the Admission degree at our Council on July 17. I enjoy attending every one of these
ceremonials, as they are great reminders of who we are and what we represent.

When attending an Admission degree we are reminded that Charity is the first principle of
our Order of Knights of Columbus. It is also a fundamental mission of the Church. Charity, as
we all know, is not always the giving of material items. It also includes the joyful love of
neighbor, plus the nourishment and care of souls. It is true that charity begins at home.
Charity in marriage should be expressed as Love - especially since married couples are
called by God to share the divine love, which comforts with a word, a look, a helping hand,
a caress or an embrace and to join Gods dream by creating a world where no one feels
alone. Family members can practice charity through kindness and attentive care for others.
The Knights of Columbus offers many methods of living this virtue in practical ways so
therefore we call on all Catholic men to join us in our mission.

Knights of Columbus “BENEFITS NEWS”
Life Insurance As a Gift?

The initial reaction for many people when you mention life insurance as a gift is a quick step back
and a questioning stare. “How morbid,” they think. While it may seem that way when you first
mention it, life insurance is really a thoughtful gift that can be a financial life preserver in tough
times.

The problem with life insurance is the general perception. Many think of death instead of the
great benefits it provides, and the security that it offers – even while you’re alive. Life insurance
should be thought of as a precautionary protective measure for a family unit. The purchase of this
product can mean saving your home, sending your children to college, and preserving your
spouse’s quality of life in the event of your death.

One of the times you may want to purchase life insurance for someone is when a family has a
new baby. It’s a great, low-cost way to set money aside for the future (i.e. college tuition, hous-
ing, business start-up, etc.). Of greater importance, it ensures these children will have insurance
as adults, in case an illness later in life makes him or her uninsurable.

Newlyweds are also ideal recipients for life insurance. As they join their lives and financial respon-
sibilities, young couples need to make sure that their early investments are fully protected. If
something were to happen to one of them, the other may be faced with serious financial hard-
ship. A life insurance policy is an ideal way to ensure their future and protect their assets.

As nontraditional as it may be, life insurance is a wise and caring gift to purchase for many peo-
ple.

Prayer for a Sick Person

Dear Jesus,
Divine physician and healer of the sick, we turn to you in this time of illness. O dearest comforter of the trou-
bled, alleviate our worry and sorrow with your gentle love, and grant us the grace and strength to accept this
burden.

Dear God,
We place our worries in your hands. We ask that you restore your servant to health again. Above all, grant us
the grace to acknowledge your holy will and know that whatsoever you do, you do for the love of us.
