Ph. D. Admission-2023-24 Rules

1. Eligible candidates are required to fill prescribed online application form for the admission. This
form can be filled from www.ngu.ac.in or http://phd.hngu.net website from Date: 22/09/2023 to
date: 12/10/2023 till 5.00 pm.
2. All candidates are informed to carefully read Ph. D. Ordinances 2023-24 and Ph. D. Admission
rules before filling up online application form.
3. Candidates can apply in the subject in which they have post graduate degree.
4. Candidate must possess required qualification as on last date of filling up application form. In
case result of the candidate is declared as on last date of application but hard copy of mark sheet
is not received, in such cases he/she has to upload print copy of result downloaded from the
website of concerned university.
5. A candidate(s) seeking admission in Ph.D. must have Master’s Degree in relevant subject with at
least 55% (Without Grassing) marks and 50 % (Without Grassing) Marks for SC/ST/OBC-Non
Creamy Layer/ EWS/ differently abled candidates having more than 40% disability) in aggregate
or its equivalent grade in the UGC 7- point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever
the grading system is followed) in the subject chosen for research. The Non-creamy layer
Certificate is valid for the time period as specified by the government time to time.
6. Those candidates who have passed UGC–NET/SET/ CSIR (NET) / GATE/ and M. Phil. (as per
UGC regulation 2009) shall be exempted from entrance test. They shall be considered for
admission in the category only in which they have passed the above listed examination. Further,
the candidates who have qualified master degree from universities other than HNGU shall be
considered for admission in respective category only.
7. While applying online, where percentage is required to be mentioned in the educational
qualifications, if marks are mentioned in marks sheet, the candidate required to enter marks, but if
the mark sheet is as per the grade point system, than a candidate has to show the percentage after
converting grade point into percentage as per the rules of the concerned university/board and at
the time of verification, a candidate has to produce certificate (showing conversion of grade point
into percentage) by the competent authority of the concerned university/ board. At the time of
online application, the candidate has to fill obtained marks and total marks as per certificate and if
any discrepancies found in later stage, the application form of the candidate is liable to be rejected
at any stage of admission process. The Certificate issued by the principal of the concerned college
will be not considered. In case, marks are shown in mark sheet, these candidates need not to
upload grade point to percentage conversion certificate.
8. A candidate(s) are eligible for admission in Ph.D. whose Master’s Degree Result's declared.

 9. If any candidate is registered for Ph.D. admission and studying in another course, they must
cancel their enrolment in that course, otherwise Ph.D. admission should be canceled.
10. A candidate has to upload her/his passport size photograph (size less than 150KB), signature (size
less than 150KB) and documents (size less than 150KB) mentioned in the online application form.
Photograph and signature can be uploaded in JPG, JPEG or PNG format, whereas documents can
be in uploaded in PDF/JPEG format. At the time of document verification and interview/Viva-
Voce, a candidate has to bring originals of all the documents mentioned in online application form.
An application cannot be confirmed without uploading the above mentioned details and such
applications will be rejected.
11. A candidate has to pay specified form fee Rs. 1500/- (One Thousands Five Hundred Only) online
at the time of online application. This form fees is non-refundable.
12. After completing online application form, a candidate after the last date of application has to get
print of it to keep with them for future reference and retain it to produce in future as and when
asked.
13. Any candidate who submits wrong information while filling online application form will be
considered as disqualified. If any information submitted by a candidate is found wrong,
incomplete, or erroneous, then He/she will be considered as disqualified at any stage of admission
process. In future no representation will be accepted in this regard.
14. Candidates are asked to check information regarding admission process and entrance examination
which will be kept on university website time to time. No personal intimation will be made in this
regards.
15. The syllabi of entrance test for Ph.D. programme will be as per UGC guidelines i.e. 50% from
Research Methodology followed in the subject and 50% subject specific. Syllabus for the
Entrance Examination of Research Methodology shall be put on University website and Subject
specific Questions shall be as per the UGC/CSIR NET Syllabus. The entrance test shall be of
Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) only. The MCQ test structure shall consist of 100 MCQs of
100 marks. Each question will carry 01 mark. The Research Methodology of 50 MCQs will
constitute questions related to English Proficiency, Reasoning Ability, Basic Computer Skills;
each of 5 questions – total 15 and 35 Questions of subject specific Research Methodology. The
subject specific of 50 MCQs shall be asked from concerned subjects. Passing standard of the
entrance examination shall be 50% (45 % for SC/ST/OBC-Non Creamy Layer/ EWS/ and
Differently Abled candidates having more than 40% Disability).
16. In case of any dispute, the decision of the Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan
will be final and it is binding for all. The jurisdiction for the same will be Patan only.
