PART I – GENERAL

1.01 SUMMARY

FloArm SL Conductive/Dissipative : 2mm thick Epoxy resin based ESD flooring. Systems have
been designed for use in areas where a static Conductive or a static Dissipative floor is required as
a measure to control static electricity.

 Static control: provides an effective passage of static electricity to earth

 Hygienic: provides a dense, impervious seamless floor surface which is easily cleaned Durable: good
abrasion resistance
 Aesthetical appearance: available in a wide range colours to enhance the working environment
 Chemical resistant: good resistance to a wide range of chemicals

1.03 PRODUCT PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

a. Compressive Strength : > 50 N/mm2

b. Flexural Strength : >25 N/mm2
c. Tensile Strength : > 16 N/mm2

surface having moisture content less than 5 %. Surface preparation includes grinding of concrete
surface, proper cleaning, removing of loose mortar, paint residuals, curing compound residues,
repairing of floor cracks and dents using epoxy putty, application of FloArm Primer EP -epoxy
penetrating primer for concrete surface, using brush or roller and allow to cure for 8-10
hrs(depending upon temperature). Mixing and application of FloArm SL
Conductive/Dissipative Undercoat over primed surface using suitable brush or roller as per
recommended coverage as per technical datasheet. Now mixing all components of FloArm SL
Conductive/Dissipative Top Coat- Epoxy resin based static conductive/Dissipative self-
smoothening system floor topping having Surface Resistance (BS 2050) FloArm SL Conductive
– 5 x 104 - 1 x 106 Ohms, FloArm SL Dissipative - 1 x 106 - 1 x 109 Ohms, using slow speed
drill and poured on primed and prepared surface at 2 mm DFT. Now level the material using
serrated trowel and roll the same with spiked nylon roller to remove slight trowel marks and
entrapped air from the material etc. complete as per manufacturer's specification.

PART III- EXECUTION

Step 1: Surface Preparation, Moisture Testing & Joint Treatment

1. The surface to be treated with self levelling epoxy floor topping should be designed to have a minimum
characteristic compressive strength of 25N/mm 2 & adequate workability to ensure enough compaction in
order to achieve sufficient tensile strength in the concrete.
2. Before specifying or commencing with the installation of any resin floor finish, it is important that the
moisture content of the substrate is correctly identified.
3. Excess moisture in concrete slab i.e. >5% or Rh >75% and Higher water table levels can cause adhesion
problems / Interrupt polymerization of products /delaminating of bonded coating / discoloration / blistering
in non-breathable resin floor topping / coating.
4. It is widely recognised that the surface hygrometer is the preferred and most accurate method in the UK (as
specified in British Standards BS8203 & BS8204). However, dense concrete substrates may require the
instrument to be in position for several days in order to obtain a steady and precise reading. Or else
following methods should be adopted for testing of the moisture.

 Testing for moisture:

Page 4
ASTM F-2170 : Standard Test Method for
Determining Relative Humidity in Concrete
Floor Slabs Using In Situ Probes: This test
measures the relative humidity in the slab
below the surface. If taken over a period of
time, it will show the rate of drying in the slab.
The maximum relative humidity should be
below 75%.

ASTM-F-1869 – Standard Test Method for

Measuring Moisture Vapour Emission Rate of
Concrete Subfloor Using Anhydrous Calcium
Chloride: The maximum allowed water/vapour
transmission rate is less than 4g / sq m / 24 hrs

ASTM-D-4263 – Plastic Sheet Test: This test

only gives an indication that moisture may be
present and should never be used as a basis of
decision

Surface moisture meter (ASTM F 2659):

Designed to check the moisture level of
concrete which limit should be less than 5%.

5. It is recommended to remove dust, dirt and loose concrete, mortar to ensure perfect bonding of epoxy
flooring system. It is also recommended to carry out mechanical grinding on the floor for proper adhesion
of successive system.
6. The concrete surface should be abraded or impacted by mechanical means to remove the uppermost cement
matrix. This can be achieved using appropriate proprietary equipment for grinding or shot blasting
preferably with integral vacuum containment. Percussive scrabbling is unsuitable. Prior to applying the
flooring a close visual examination should be made to verify cleanliness, soundness of the surface.

Page 5
7. It is also recommended to open construction joints, cracks (if any) on floor in V-groove type and fill up the
same using epoxy putty to avoid cracks in epoxy flooring system.

Step 2: Application of Epoxy penetrating primer

Page 6
1. Application of FloArm Primer EP – FloArm Primer EP should be applied either with a brush or roller in the
form of continuous pore free coating to ensure full coverage of the substrate. The rate of consumption would be
– 0.3 to 0.4 kg/sqm. If the surface is quite porous, one can go for application of FloArm Primer 1290.

Step 3: Earthing Connections:

1. When primer is dry bond the copper tape \to the primed concrete and connect end of the tape to suitable earth
point. This will include existing earthing points or copper strips that are themselves connected to the earthing
points.
2. Overcoat to top of tape with FloArm Conductive/Dissipative undercoat during the undercoat installation
process.

Page 7
Step 4: Application of FloArm SL Conductive/Dissipative

1. Under Coat: The mixed undercoat shall be applied with a roller or brush on the primer at a material
consumption rate of 6m²/kg. The undercoat provides a Conductive system passage to earth so correct
application and strict adherence to coverage rates are critical to the final electrical properties of the completed
floor. Thorough covering of earthing connections is essential. The Resistivity of the undercoat needs to be
measured before applying the top coat (after overnight Air Dry). The surface resistance (FloArm SL Conductive
undercoat) should be approx. 3x103 9 x103 Ohm & that for dissipative should be: 10 X 103 to 500 X 103 Ohms.

2. Top coat: The material once mixed should be used within its specified pot life. FloArm SL
Conductive/Dissipative is designed to flow out readily to provide a smooth substantially leveled surface. It is
applied by spreading evenly over the surface, using a serrated trowel, pin rake or squeegee. This should be
followed by rolling with a spiked roller to release any entrapped air and assist in smoothing out.

PART IV- QUALITY ASSURANCE

 Onsite training to project team (based on client requirement) on proposed systems

will ensure the quality of work to be executed.
 Appointing a well-trained Authorized applicator by MYK Arment to ensure the
job done as per the specifications approved by Engineer-In-Charge.
