MONTH OF MAY (Department Memorandum No. 2023-0018) Moratorium on Activities to Prioritize the
Implementation of the CY 2023 Measles-Rubella and Oral Poliovirus Vaccine Supplemental Immunization
Activity (MR-OPV SIA) on May 2023

A moratorium on the conduct of all activities involving CHDs and/


LGUs is hereby declared from May 1 to May 31, 2023 EXCEPT for
activities involving the following:

1. Disease surveillance and response activities


2. Activities related to Human Resources for Health (HRH)
Emergency Hiring and grant of COVID-19 Benefits and
Compensation to eligible Healthcare Workers (HCWs) and non-
HCWs
3. Activities with implications on Certification and Accreditation
4. Intensified COVID-19 vaccination activities/ campaigns
5. Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health (DRRM-H)
and Operations Center activities of the HEMB, CHDs, and
hospitals in relation to preparedness and response to
emergencies and disasters
ACTIVITY: Galaw-Sayaw Para Sa Healthy Pilipinas: Barangay Zumba

Why do this Activity?


• To encourage the community to engage in physical activity and regular
exercise.
• To encourage the community to share knowledge and benefits of regular
exercise.
• To enjoin the community in championing the 7 Healthy Habits for a Healthy
Community.

General Guidelines:

This GALAW-SAYAW para sa HEALTHY PILIPINAS: BARANGAY ZUMBA is a


showcase of talents of the community members which will encourage healthy
lifestyle through video productions. Each Barangay will be sending at least one
entry that will be posted throughout the month on official LGU social media
accounts.

A group of 10 -15 people in Valentine-themed Zumba outfits will take videos of


themselves performing the #HealthyGalawSayaw, which shows the different
moves and steps involving muscles from head to toe.

ACTIVITY: Larong Pinoy Social Media Challenge

Why do this Activity?


• To promote the “Larong Pinoy” to Filipinos especially to millennials
and Gen Zs who are not familiar with Filipino traditional games.
• To promote “Larong Pinoy” on social media as a fun way of
practicing healthy outdoor activities through play.

General Guidelines:

The TikTok challenge will be open to all members of


the community. Videos will be crowd-sourced from
interested participants and will be shared and posted via
official LGU social media accounts.

Film a Tiktok video of youth playing traditional “Larong Pilipino”


games. Participants will record an original video of them playing
games such as Tagu-Taguan, Tumbang Preso, Luksong Tinik, etc.

ACTIVITY: Bakuna Ricorida!

Why do this Activity?


• To promote and institutionalize “Bakuna Wednesday” as a regular
activity for routine vaccination.
• To frequently remind the parents and caregivers to complete the
routine immunization of their children
• To inform the public that they can avail the vaccines for free at the
health centers.

General Guidelines:

This information drive aims to raise awareness on the routine


immunization services of the city/municipality. It utilizes mobile
vehicles and broadcast equipment that will announce the available
services in the Barangay Health Stations and Rural Health Units. The
activity will be done every Wednesday to reinforce the “Bakuna
Wednesday” advocacy of the Department of Health.

ACTIVITY: PINTAyo for a Bisyo-Free Pilipinas

Why do this Activity?


• Provide opportunities to showcase local talents and promote what a smoke/
alcohol/drug-free community is.
• Enjoin the youth in doing worthwhile and productive activities that will
promote healthier lifestyles.
• Increase awareness on the consequences of alcohol, tobacco and illicit drug
use

About the activity/General Guidelines:


A mural is a powerful visual communication tool, meant to promote an
opinion and to transmit social and political messages towards unity, painted or
applied directly on a wall, ceiling or other permanent surfaces. This is also a
great way to showcase the heritage, and preserve the culture of the
community cherished by generations. This is also a way to showcase and
develop artistic talents of the community members and a great way to
showcase the existing natural beauty of the area.

All barangay is expected to submit at least one (1) entry by filling out the entry
form. The artwork must be located in any place frequented by minors like
schools, playgrounds or market places in their barangay.

ACTIVITY: Workout, Cookout

Why do this Activity?


• To promote physical exercise and proper nutrition within the context of a
community bonding session, where everyone from children to elderly can take
part
• To highlight local restaurants or home cooks, gyms, Zumba instructors and
the like

About the Activity

What better way to stay true to the month’s theme than a workout/cookout
afternoon! Start the afternoon with an energizing workout with our partner
establishments followed by cooking demos by select home-chefs in the
locality! Everyone is welcome to bring their own food to share and enjoy with
the community after sweating it out together! Nothing brings a community
together like food! Mix that up with a fun exercise routine and you’re sure to
have a happy and healthy afternoon!

ACTIVITY: Take the Safe Sex Pledge!

Why do this Activity?


The main objective of this activity is to gain the support and commitment from
the community members in practicing healthy behaviors, specifically:
• To promote positive sexual and reproductive behaviors
• To encourage people and take pledge to do safer sex practices i.e. not
engaging in unprotected sex, having sex when ready, loving one’s self

General Guidelines:

The Take the Safe Sex Pledge is a pledge of commitment campaign in a form of
getting the signatures as sign of commitment from the community members.
There will be a community board where people can sign and insert their
pledge statements on promoting positive sexual and reproductive behaviors.

It should be enforced that there shall be no offensive, discriminating, and


inappropriate statements on these pledge boards. It shall be properly
managed and regulated by the community organizing committee/s.

ACTIVITY: Linis-Ligtas Barangay Cleanup Drive

Why do this Activity?


• To make community-wide preparations for the coming rainy months
• To promote environmental health to all members of the community and
encourage them to take action.
• To enjoin the community in championing the 7 healthy habits for a Healthy
Community

About the Activity:

September is right in the middle of the rainy season in the Philippines. The
rainy season brings the dreaded W.I.L.D diseases -- waterborne diseases,
influenza, leptospirosis, and dengue. Because of this, it would be a good idea
to do an environmental health check within our barangay. This cleanup drive
will encourage our constituents to clean up their surroundings. as well as
reward the municipalities that make the best effort to keep their respective
areas clean.

ACTIVITY: RE-CREATE: Recycled Art Contest for a Healthy Pilipinas!

Why do this Activity?


• To initiate recycling efforts in the community to remove waste items from
dump sites and put them into an art gallery
• To promote reduced waste production at the individual and community level
through artworks that let people imagine the scale of trash produced
• To have a creative outlet for local artists to perform and showcase their
talents

About the Activity:

There can be beauty in trash. Taking from the slogan “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”,
this campaign entitled “Recreate” aims to turn discarded items into beautiful
artworks. This competition will be open to all members of the community who
have artistic or creative talents in building art pieces. At the end of the
competition, we will be rewarding the most beautiful and most creative
creations. The artworks can be displayed to the public to further highlight the
need to reduce the waste we produce.

ACTIVITY: Gupit Lupit: Beauty and Wellness Day

Why do this Activity?


• To provide an avenue where residents can maintain and improve their
personal hygiene, and grooming
• To instill in residents the importance of selfcare and to encourage them to
practice it on a daily basis.
• To motivate the community to champion the Seven Healthy Habits for a
healthy community.

About the Activity:

It is critical to understand that practicing self-care entails caring for your


mental health as well as your physical health. Taking care of your mental
health starts by attending to your physical needs of personal hygiene and
grooming. This activity aims to teach residents proper grooming techniques for
personal use and events, such as basic makeup and hair care. This also aims to
motivate them to practice personal hygiene and grooming on a daily basis.
Proper grooming and healthy personal habits can help residents stay healthy
and feel good about themselves. It can be scheduled any of the four weekends
of the month of October.

ACTIVITY: Beat the Bisyo Race

Why do this Activity?


• To enjoin the youth and help prevent the possibilities of substance use or
abuse
• To educate children of the ill effects of smoking, binge drinking and illicit
drug use
• To increase awareness and the intention to quit among smokers.

About the Activity:

Peer pressure is the major cause of youth involvement in social vices. Children
also have a high level of curiosity to learn and practice new things. The youth
should be encouraged away from vices such as smoking, drinking, and illicit
drugs.

The game will educate the players about the ill effects of smoking, illicit drug
use, and dangers of binge drinking in a fun and interactive way (*similar to
amazing race)

Activity: Iwas Paputok Launching with Search for the Pinaka-bonggang
Merry-Making Alternatives sa Paputok

Why do this Activity?


To enjoin the community in doing safer and sustainable activities this
Christmas season. This will emphasize the importance of using alternative
merry-making instruments instead of using firecrackers and other pyrotechnic
devices to prevent fireworks-related injuries. At the same time this will be a
great avenue to promote the use of local resources readily available in the
community and promote recycling as part of environmental sustainability
initiatives of the government, and lastly, to spark creativity among the
community people.

General Guidelines:

Each participating barangay will be:


* Creating the most “bonggang” merrymaking alternatives such as tambol
using kaldero, tambourine using recycled things, etc. which are in line with the
Todo Pito messages/ theme.
* Incorporating Todo Pito messages to the design.
* Posting the “bonggang” merry-making alternatives on their own Barangay
social media pages tagging DOH Healthy Pilipinas and using the hashtags:
#HealthyPasko2021.
