PATTERN DRAFTING BODICE PATTERN

STEPS IN DRAFTING THE FRONT-BODICE PATTERN


1. Draw a perpendicular line from the left side of the left side of the pattern paper.
2. A is the corner of a perpendicular line.
3. AB is 3” downward for neck depth
4. AC is 5” downward for the chest line
5. AD is ½ “ of armhole measurement
6. AE is front figure measurements
7. Square out or draw horizontal lines for A, B, C, D and E to the right

8. AF is 3” to the right
9. AG is ½” of shoulder measurement
10. GH is 1 ½” down. Connect FB to shape the front neckline using a French curve. Connect FH
with a straight line to show the shoulder slope.
11. CI is ½” of chest measurement or ½” of shoulder measurement minus ¾ “. Connect HI with a
line.
12. DJ is ¼ of the bust. Connect IJ with a French curve to shape the armhole.
13. EK is ¼ of waist measurement to the right plus 1” for the dart.
Connect JK with a line.
14. AD1 is bust height measurement downward.
15. D1 to L is ½ of bust distance to the right. Square down or draw vertical from L to line EK and
mark the intersection as M.
16. D1 L is equal to EM. Measure ½” on sides of M. Connect each side of M to L to manifest the
waist dart.
17. KN is ½” upward in line JK.
Connect MN using the hip curve.

STEPS IN DRAFTING THE BACK-BODICE PATTERN


Vertically and Horizontally taken with curve lines.
1. Draw a vertical line from the right edge of the pattern paper.
2. Extend letters ACDE
3. AB is ½” downward for neck depth
4. AF is 3” to the left.
5. AG is ½ of shoulder measurement.
6. GH is” downward. Connect FB with a French Curve
Connect FH with a line.
