DIVISION 01: GENERAL CONDITIONS

1.0 GENERAL
1.1 The Drawings and the specifications are complementary to each other.
Drawings are graphic means of showing work to be done. They are
particularly suited to showing where materials are located. Thus, drawings
exist essentially to show dimensions, locations, and placement. Not all
works however can be presented on the drawings. Generalized works are
usually in the statement form, and hence the Contractor is required to read
the technical specifications carefully.

1.2 Technical specifications, on the other hand are used to describe the
materials, construction techniques, examples, submittals, shop drawings,
guarantees, material handling, deliveries, stocking, and other contract
requirements. Together, the Drawings, and the Technical Specifications
used to inform the Contractor and form as a part of the Contract
Documents.

1.3 The work specified herein is for the supply of all necessary materials,
labor, tools, and equipment for the construction and completion of the
(Proposed Two-Storey Residential Building) located at (Bennett Road
Olonggapo City,Zambales).

complete the termite protection work hereinafter described.

1.2 EXAMINATION OF SITE

Visit the site of work and examine the premises to fully understand all
existing conditions with respect to the work involved. Inquire from local
authorities the presence of termites in the vicinity for more information.

2.0 CLEARING, GRADING AND FILLING

2.1 GENERAL CONDITIONS

The contractor shall make all necessary excavation for the foundation to
grade indicated in the drawings with put extra compensation. The ground
floor shall be 0.875 meters above the grade line. Excavation for footings
shall be done strictly in accordance with the given sizes and depths as
shown in the drawings.
3.0 SITE TREATMENT

3.1 CHEMICALS AND EQUIPMENT

For termite proofing, use “Solignum” or approved equal by the Architect.

manufacturer sealed container to the Project supervisor for inspection,
sampling, and safekeeping. No container with broken seal shall be
accepted. The chemicals must be one (1) liter and/or one (1) gallon only.
Dilution ratios: 2 liters termite proofing chemical to 100 liters water.
Dilutions shall be done only at the jobsite in the presence of the Project
Supervisor. The strength of the mixture or solution shall be made uniform
by thorough stirring. All solutions prepared for termite proofing shall be
used within 24 hours. Application of solution shall be done by means of
POWER SPRAYERS ONLY fitted with FLOW METERS for accurate
monitoring of actual quantity used.

4.0 EXECUTION

4.1 APPLICATION AND TREATMENT

4.1.1 Foundation Treatment: Prior to pouring the foundation, apply four
(4) liters of the solution per square meter of surface (bottom and
sides) of excavations for footings and foundations. Where
excavations are constantly under water due to seepage, treatment
shall be done simultaneously with the treatment of the backfill
material by “rodding” method. The quantity of the solution to be
applied in this case shall be eight (8) liters per linear meter per
0.30-meter height of backfill
4.1.2 Backfill Treatment: apply four (4) liters per 0.30meter height of
backfill materials as it is being placed and compacted starting from
the top of the footing/foundation slab up to the bottom of the floor
slab.
4.1.3 Floor Slab Treatment: Prior to placing of vapor barrier, apply six (6)
liters per square meter of the sand bedding directly under the
concrete slab and a one (1) meter wide strip along the perimeter of
the concrete slab on fill.
4.1.4 Building Exterior Treatment: Apply three (3) liters per linear meter
in a 0.15-0.20meter deep trench along the exterior wall of the
building.
4.1.5 Other Areas Treatment: Treat all voids found in masonry walls such
as in concrete hollow blocks and all surfaces before veneer finishes
are place with four (4) liters per ten (10) linear meters.
