The speaker focused on the advantages of single-sex schools, especially all-

girl schools.
To begin with, she pointed out three main drawbacks of all-girl schools.
Firstly, the separation of the sexes goes against the aims and goals of feminists and
liberal educators, which is to provide equality among sexes. Secondly, in single-
sex schools, boys and girls can’t develop the ability to interact with one another.
Thirdly, those schools don’t provide students with a smooth transition into the
adult world where they will work, play and live together.
Next, she provided two key reasons why single-sex schools are beneficial.
Firstly, it values girls’ unique qualities: concentration in a higher level of abstract
thinking at an earlier age, better teamwork skills, kindness, and cooperativeness.
Secondly, it helps girls develop self-confidence. While in mixed-gender schools,
boys often outtalk the girls, girls in single-sex schools can feel free and be
themselves, offer help and ask for help when needed.
In the end, she suggested that all-girl schools enable girls to change the real
adult world in which boys are the ones who set the rules of the game.
