COURSE DESCRIPTION :

Dance is a course that will provide physical activities for the purpose of
optimizing health and fitness. Through skills training, exercise drills, game play and
independent or self-directed PAs, fitness levels will be enhanced. In conjunction with
this fitness level, PA participation and dietary eating patterns are evaluated to monitor
one’s progress and achievement of personal fitness dietary goals.

Learning Philippine Traditional Dances both provide fitness benefits and cultural
sensitivity. The course introduces the nature of dance and its fitness benefits. It involves
the fundamental techniques that include movement skills. Through skills training,
exercises drills, dance participation and independent or self-directed Pas, fitness levels
will be enhanced. In conjunction with this, fitness levels, PA participation and
dietary/eating patterns are evaluated to monitor one’s progress and achievement of
personal fitness and dietary goals.

FINAL COURSE OUTPUT:


Midterm. Creative Rhythm (Group Project). The students will be divided into 5
groups. Each group will create a Rhythmic Activity based on the topics that was already
discussed.

Final Term. Culminating Activity (Group Performance Project). Every group


will create an exercise routine during the culminating activity that provides evidence of
achieving the learning outcomes. The final presentation time of culminating activity
should be minimum of 2 minutes and a maximum of 3 minutes.

Class Policies:
1. You are expected to observe and follow the University rules and regulations.

2. All students must attend classes promptly and regularly. Only students enrolled
in the course are allowed to attend the sessions, sit-ins may be allowed
depending on the instructor’s approval. A student shall be marked tardy 15
minutes after the set time and absent after 20 minutes of the scheduled time,
unless the instructor has prior notice of his/her absence or tardiness. Lastly,
unless the subject instructor gave prior notice, the students may leave their
assigned room 15 minutes after the start of the scheduled time. (see F.
Attendance, BulSU Student Handbook)

3. In consideration of the trying economic and environmental challenges posed by


the forthcoming face to face classes, the university will provisionally allow
students who are yet to procure their respective uniforms to use comfortable and
decent civilian wear for the 2nd Semester of A.Y. 2022-2023. Students, however,
who wish to regularly wear their uniforms during this period are allowed and
encouraged to do so during the prescribed days of the week (Monday, Tuesday
and Thursday, Wednesday-wash day and sleeveless, shorts, rip jeans are not
allowed, and Friday- organization shirt day and only Org Shirt is allowed).
Furthermore, male students must sport a haircut that does not exceed the collar
line and does not cover the ears. Wearing of earrings for the male is prohibited
and for female student’s excessive jewelries and make-up aren’t allowed as well.
(see Responsibility, BulSU Student Handbook).

4. During written examinations, class presentations, laboratory activities and term


examinations the students must be in the prescribed uniform, or the instructor
may refuse to give the student the written or practical activities. Students must
refrain from talking to their seatmates, answering phone calls and text messages,
and listening to music through their earphones while taking the written exam or
laboratory activities. No students can use the restroom/lavatory unless necessary
during the examination.

5. If proven guilty of cheating, your work will automatically earn a grade of 5.0.
Disciplinary measures as mandated by the College and University shall be
enforced.

6. During classroom discussions, the student must refrain from making too much
noise, the use of electronic gadgets like cellphones, laptops, tablets are not
allowed. On the other hand, they are encouraged to observe courtesy and
cooperation, listen attentively and participate actively in all class activities.

7. Students are not allowed to stay in the classroom earlier than 15 minutes and
later than 15 minutes before and after their class schedule.

8. Students who are absent during the day the quiz has been given will not have a
chance to take the said quiz anymore regardless of any reason/s. However,
major examinations (Midterm and Final Term) will be given only to those who

were able to present valid excuse slip signed by their parents, guardians, and/or
physicians.

9. It is a must to submit your assignments, projects, research and others on time or


else your grade will be automatically 75.

10. Quizzes will be given on the very start of our class and late comers will be
allowed to take the said quiz only if there is still time remaining. If not, your grade
will be automatically 50 and if you’re absent will be 0.
