Q2 Solve any two sub-questions

a) Give the comparison between Gross Error, Systematic Error and Random 6 02 05
Errors

b) A Kelvin double bridge in which each of the ratio arms P=Q=p=q = 1000Ω. 6 02 03
The emf of the battery is 100V and a resistance of 5Ω is included in the
battery circuit. The galvanometer has a resistance of 500Ω and the resistance
of the link connecting the unknown resistance to the standard resistance may
be neglected. The bridge is balanced when the standard resistance S = 0.001Ω
(i) Determine the value of unknown resistance (ii) Determine the current
through the unknown resistance R at balance (iii) Determine the deflection of
the galvanometer when the unknown resistance R is changed by 0.1 % from its
value at balance.

c) With neat a phasor and circuit diagram explain in detail Schering Bridge, Also 6 01 02
derive expression for unknown capacitances.

Q3 Solve any two sub-questions

a) List out different types of angular measurement instrument, How sin bar 6 02 05
instrument utilized for angular measurement?

b) How LVDT is used for monitoring health of mechanical structure such as 6 03 04

motors, turbine and engine through vibration and acceleration measurement.

c) With neat sketch diagram explain inductive type torque measurement, also 6 02, 03,
express torque equation.

Q4 Solve any two sub-questions

a) State the selection criteria of transducers, How the linear displacement is 6 02 03,
measured with linear variable differential transformer (LVDT)?

b) List out transducers for linear velocity measurement. Explain in detail moving 6 02, 03,
coil and moving magnet type transducer with their advantages and 04 02

disadvantages.

c) A parallel circuit has two branches. The current in one branch is I1 = 100±3 A 6 02 03,
and in other is I2 = 250±5 A. Determine the value of total current I = I1 +I2
considering
