Use of language

Listen again and write what adjectives the speakers use to describe these
nouns:

stories
experience
situation
views
city
nature

Use those chunks to talk about your own travel experiences:

E.g.: "I remember one appalling story about... when visiting...Turns out..."

Have a look at these hesitation devices from the conversation. Why are
they used? Do you remember any of the situations in which they were
used?

Oh ... phew
urgh
So, as I was saying,..
wow
I mean...
umm
Hey
you know...
like...
Think about your travel experiences and describe some of them using
these phrases from the conversation:

I had to pinch myself to prove

I wasn't dreaming.

One of the things I liked was

the multiculturalism.

I was too jet lagged.

Follow-up activity

After listening Dave describe his trip experience, would you like to
visit Toronto?

What did you like the most about his description? Did he mention
anything negative about his stay in Canada?

What other information would you like to know about a place before
visiting it?

How does Jean react to her friend's story? Is she interested in knowing
more details? How do you know?

Do your friends react in the same way when you're back from your trips?
