PSA: Be safe when binding with KT Tape

I've seen a few posts on here talking about binding with
KT Tape recently, and while I totally understand the
need to mitigate dysphoria, it's really important to do it
safely.

KT Tape can be very useful for binding for a lot of

reasons, namely that it's waterproof, cooler than a
standard binder, and lasts for about a week. It's also
much harder for other people to spot, so it's good for
those who are stealth.

However, it does come with a few risks. If you bind

incorrectly with KT Tape, you risk losing circulation in
your chest, which if left alone can cause tissue loss. It's
also incredibly hard to remove before it comes off
naturally, and trying to do so can damage your skin.

When I bound with KT Tape for the first time, I did it

incorrectly, and started losing feeling in my chest on
day 3. I had to take it off or risk tissue loss, which
resulted in chemical burns on my chest and side.
They've healed, but I've got scars there now. It could
have been my inexperience binding with KT Tape, or
the fact that I'm a DD cup, but my experience with KT
Tape wasn't very good.

I know a lot of people have a lot of success with it, but I

wouldn't recommend binding this way. It's got a lot of
risks, and there are ways to bind that are safer than
this.

I've only been taping for two months but after
nearly 10 years of binding, I think it's fucking
incredible. I think at this point the risks associated
with damaging my lungs vs my skin is worth it... I

I don't know- it appears to be different but I've
only tried brand name KT Tape. I'd imagine it
functions in much the same way, though.

Edit: I just dug a little deeper--it's a bit

different than KT Tape, namely that it's a little
wider, so probably a little easier to use. The
adhesive seems to be the same.

To be fair, binding with KT tape is recommended
for smaller chests and you really shouldn't leave it
on for more than three days anyway. This
information isn't always a given (and I find that the
Transtape website doesn't do a great job of letting
you know the risks) And really no form of binding
is actually 100% safe. I'm sorry you had that
experience though, it sounds uncomfortable at
best and painful :/. I'm a size 34C and I've found
tape tends to work well for me, but again, I never
leave it on for more than three days. It's all a little
bit of trial and error unfortunately, and it's always
best to listen to your body, so if your feeling numb
it's obviously best to take it off and probably avoid
that type of binding. Thanks for sharing your
experience though! I'm sure you're not alone.

Sorry if this is weird, but I'm also a 34C, can
you like, show me how to use it .3. or like
explain- I can't understand the little box or
whatever (I have a hard time going from text -
on my body. I always need help because I ma
bean and if I don't I literally end up cutting
myself somehow. I cut myself on bread once
as a kid because nobody explained how to
open it.... I'm very smart I swear) (also this is
only if u want to cuz like ye)
