FINAL DEMONSTRATION IN ENGLISH GRADE 10

Subject: English Date: April 16, 2024


Grade and Section: Grade 10- Barachiel Time: 8:30-9:30 A.M

I. A. Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of how world


literature and other text types serve as instruments to resolve social conflicts, also
how to use the language of research, campaigns and advocacies.
B. Performance Standards: The learner competently presents a research report on
a relevant socio-cultural issue.
C. Learning Competencies:
Give technical and operational definitions EN10V-IIa-13.9
D. Specific Learning Objectives
At the end of the 60 minutes discussion, 90 percent of the students are expected
to:
a. Distinguish what word functions as technical or operational definition.
b. Create sentences using the technical and operational definition of words.
c. Convey and apply the value of giving technical and operational definitions
in writing a research paper.

 The teacher will ask the similarities and differences of the
phrases given.

B. Pre Activities
1. Motivation
The students will watch the film entitled “The Pencil’s Tale” and answer
these following questions:
Who does the pencil symbolizes in real life story?
What will be the sharpener of the pencil according to the story?
Who will hold the pencil?
2. Unlocking Difficulties
The teacher and the students will define the following words
a. Terminologies- the body of terms used with a particular technical
application in a subject of study, profession, etc.
b. Practical Knowledge-knowledge acquired by day-day hands-on
experiences.
c. Peculiar-particular; special.
d. Ambiguity-the quality of being open to more than one interpretation;
inexactness.

C. Lesson Proper
1. Discussion
The Teacher will define the meaning of “Definition”
The teacher will discuss about the two types of definition namely:
 Technical and Operation Definition

2. Short Activity
The students will identify the similarities and differences of technical
and operational definition using the given Venn diagram.

IV. Application
The teacher will divide the students into seven groups. Within each group, a
representative will be chosen by each student to select a word from the provided
Pool of Words. The task for each group is to construct a sentence that
incorporates the word's technical definition as well as another sentence that
exemplifies its operational definition.

V. Generalization
The teacher will present a video presentation entitled “Miscommunication”
The teacher will ask the following questions:
By watching the short reels what do you think is the importance of
understanding the concept and meaning of the words or people that we are
actually referring to?
In terms of writing what is the importance of giving the proper technical and
operational definition of words?

VI. Evaluation
Direction: Analyze each sentences and identify whether the underlined word
functions as technical or operational definition.

use the internet or your books as your reference. Just be sure to cite where you got
