EMAIL ETIQUETTE refers to the behavior when answering


or sending messages via electronic mail (email).

Here are few basic things to remember. In your email message


it is important that you:

Þ include your full name, section, and class schedule


Þ emphasize the subject or the purpose of your email
Þ review the content before sending
Þ keep it short
Þ respond immediately
Þ avoid errors in spelling, punctuation and grammar
Þ use formal fonts: Times New Roman, Arial, etc.
Þ keep your tone positive and polite
Þ mention in your message the file name and the

Now that you are ready to send email messages, let us review
the basics in writing an excuse letter.

Ignite An Excuse Letter uses the same format as any other formal 10
letter. It is written to inform, request permission, address an
issue or concern, and present a solution about a committed
absence or a planned absence.

It is best to write and send one before the absence. If it is an


unplanned absence, send your letter as soon as you are fit to do
so or have it written by your parent/s or guardian.

In writing the letter, follow the same steps: prewriting,


drafting, revising and editing, and publishing.

Here are things to remember:

o you have an option to add a subject line, one line after


the inside address
o keep it clear and concise
o avoid abbreviations and slang
o if the absence is due to medical reasons, attach a
medical certificate
o the first paragraph should include full name, section,
and class schedule
o the second paragraph states the reason for the absence
o don’t forget the date/s of absence
o the last paragraph presents a positive anticipation of a
solution
o affix your signature
o proofread
