The Commission of Higher Education (CHED) is responsible for ensuring a

smooth transition to the new system, ensuring the long-term viability of HEIs, and
aligning higher education with the new curriculum in basic education (R.A.
10533). To assist the Commission in fulfilling its responsibilities, the Davao del
Norte State College, through its Institute of Teacher Education, aims to improve
its instructional quality, institutional qualification, research and publication,
extension services and linkages.

Further, to remain relevant, one of the goals of the College is to produce

graduates who are equipped with the necessary skills needed to face the
different challenges of the 21st Century Skills and Fourth Industrial Revolution.
This is in pursuit of the College’s greater contribution to its community and to the
sustainable development goal of developing human resources in the future.
However, there are difficulties and major issues which are related to Education
4.0 such as coping with the new technology (Singh & Tilak, 2020). To solve these
problems, researchers believe that enhancing school facilities has a profound
impact on the outcomes for both teachers and students. Modernization of the
school facilities and laboratories affects student engagement, learning, and
achievement. It is also found that quality school facilities and laboratories are
predictors of teacher retention and satisfaction, and student learning (Jackonville
Public Education Fund, June 2020)

Davao del Norte State College is committed to becoming a premier Higher

Institution in Agri-Fisheries and Socio-cultural Development in the ASEAN
Region. It also strives to produce competent human resources, generate and
utilize knowledge and technology, and uphold good governance and quality
management systems for sustainable resources and resilient communities to
fulfill its mission. Cascading this institutional vision, the Institute of Teacher
Education also envisions being a premier producer of quality educators equipped
with the requisite knowledge in general education, professional education,
specialized courses and necessary skills and values in research and extension.
To achieve this, it is need to establish and modernize the laboratory facilities of
the College particularly in the Technology and Livelihood Education Laboratory.

Thus, DNSC through the Institute of Teacher Education (ITEd) initiates this
project “E’Lab ang BTLEd: Enhancing the Laboratory of Bachelor of Technology
and Livelihood Education (BTLEd) Program”. This project covers the four
missions of the institution which include instruction, research, extension and
production and aims to pursue lifelong learning for personal and professional

growth, and establish linkages among stakeholders towards quality and

excellence education.

 Establishing and Modernizing Home Economics Laboratory
Facilities and Laboratory; and
 Sustaining High LET Performance and Employability of TLE
