ADVANTAGES OF USING COPPER PIPE

 Copper pipes are known for their long lifespan and resistance to corrosion.
 Copper naturally inhibits the growth of bacteria, viruses, and fungi, which helps in
maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the water supply.
 Copper pipes can withstand high temperatures, making them suitable for hot water
supply lines.
 They can be recycled without losing their quality or properties.
 Relatively flexible compared to other piping materials.
DISADVANTAGES OF USING COPPER PIPE
 More expensive
 It can corrode in certain conditions, such as acidic water or when exposed to certain
chemicals.
 Copper's high thermal conductivity can lose heat quickly.
 Copper pipe installation requires soldering, which can be more complex and time-
consuming.
 Due to its value, copper piping can be a target for theft.
ADVANTAGES OF USING BRASS PIPE
 Brass pipes offer good resistance to corrosion.
 Brass is more malleable than steel or iron.
 Brass pipes have a smooth interior surface, which reduces friction.
 Brass can withstand a wide range of temperatures.
 Brass has a biostatic nature that inhibits the growth of bacteria, algae, and fungi.
DISADVANTAGES OF USING BRASS PIPE
 Brass pipes tend to be more expensive than alternatives.
 Older brass pipes or fittings may contain lead, which can leach into the water supply
and pose health risks.
 Brass can undergo dezincification, especially those that are acidic or low in mineral
content.
 Brass is heavier than plastic alternatives.
 Brass pipes may need additional insulation in hot water systems to maintain energy
efficiency.
ADVANTAGES OF USING STEEL PIPES
 Steel pipes are known for their high strength and durability.
 Galvanized steel pipes, which are coated with a layer of zinc, offer added resistance to
corrosion, which can significantly extend their lifespan.
 Steel can withstand high temperatures.
 Steel is highly recyclable.
DISADVANTAGES OF USING STEEL PIPE
 Steel pipes (particularly those not galvanized) can still be prone to corrosion over
time, especially when exposed to certain water qualities, leading to rust and
potentially impacting water quality.
 Steel pipes can be more expensive than alternatives.
 Steel pipes are heavier than many other materials.
 Being a good conductor of heat, steel pipes might lose heat more readily in hot water
applications.
ADVANTAGES OF USING IRON PIPES
 Cast iron pipes are extremely robust and durable.
 Though not immune, cast-iron pipes have a good level of resistance to corrosion.
 Cast iron pipes can have a very long service life, often several decades.
 Cast iron is excellent at dampening vibrations and sound.
DISADVANTAGES OF USING IRON PIPES
 Cast iron pipes are significantly heavier than most other materials.
 While resistant, cast iron can corrode over time, especially from the inside due to
water flow.
 Cast iron is more expensive than lighter materials.
 They can crack if subjected to severe impacts or improper handling during
installation.
