PMMA Alumni of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) pay visit to their Alma Mater San

Narciso, Zambales - A reuniting visits comes upon at the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy
(PMMA) as alumni of the said institution namely, CG CDR PANDEAGUA, CG LTJG DE
LAZA, and CG LTJG CUIZON, paid an excursion to their alma mater, 18 May 2023.

These commissioned officers of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) engaged in a productive
meeting with the PMMA Superintendent, COMMO JOEL Y ABUTAL PMMA, accompanied by
CAPT FRANCO T LADICA MM, Dean of the Department of Midshipmen Affairs, and 2/O
LEONARDO BRIOSO.

The meeting was marked by lively discussions focused on the academy, the PCG and their
mutual endeavors. As graduates of PMMA, they shared their valuable insights and experiences
as members of the PCG, fostering a meaningful exchange of knowledge and perspectives. It
highlights the commitment of these individuals to give back to the institution that played a vital
role in their personal and professional development.

The visit left an indelible mark, reaffirming the unbreakable bond between the Philippine Coast
Guard and the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy. Their exemplary careers serve as a beacon
of inspiration for the next generation of leaders, epitomizing the values of righteousness,
humility, and courage instilled within the halls of PMMA.

San Narciso, Zambales - Atty Zenaida B Bautista, OIC Assistant Secretary for Administration
and Procurement of the Department of Transportation together with the delegates of DOTr
MYSPPEAR 2023 from the procurement management system visited the Philippine Merchant
Marine Academy on 17 May 2023.

The PMMA Superintendent, Commo Joel Y Abutal PMMA, with the PMMA tactical officers sat
for a talk with Atty Zenaida B Bautista and shared stories about the history of the academy.
Hence, Commo Abutal also presented them the future plans for the development of the academy
and the future infrastructures which will be added to the PMMA.

Along the challenges imposed by the rapid urbanization, population growth, and climate change,
the DOTr has to be strategic in managing its resources and operations to address these obstacles.
As PMMA and DOTr are implementing the objectives of which providing a sustainable, safe,
reliable, and efficient transportation system; to develop policies and programs that will ensure
that transportation services are accessible, affordable, efficient, and safe for the PMMA
community.

The Philippine Merchant Marine Academy is looking forward to more years of developing
partnership with the Department of Transportation and to continue its goal of building a more
strategic way for efficient sea transportation.
