A - HOW TO WRITE (1) THE BACKGROUND INFORMATION
(Cách viết câu (1) Câu giới thiệu chủ đề cho Writing Task 2)
Đề bài:

Big salary is much more important than job satisfaction.

Do you agree or disagree?
(Tiền lương cao thì quan trọng hơn sự thỏa mãn trong công việc. Bạn đồng ý hay phản đối quan điểm này?)

Các bước viết câu (1) Background Information của phần mở bài
Step 1: Xác định chủ đề - Work
Step 2: Chọn 1 trong 2 cấu trúc sau để viết câu giới thiệu chủ đề:
- People have different opinions as to whether …… or not. (Mọi người
thường có quan điểm trái ngược nhau về việc liệu… không?)
VD1: People have different opinions as to whether a big salary is much more
important than job satisfaction or not.
(Mọi người thường có quan điểm trái ngược nhau về việc liệu tiền lương cao có quan
trọng hơn sự thỏa mãn trong công việc không?)
- It is often said that … (Người ta thường nói rằng…)
VD2: It is often said that a big salary is much more important than job satisfaction.
(Người ta thường nói rằng tiền lương cao thì quan trọng hơn sự thỏa mãn trong công
việc.)
Step 3: Viết lại phần màu quan điểm màu đỏ của câu Background Information bên
trên do cần có sự biến đổi về từ vựng/ ngữ pháp, tránh bê nguyên câu đề bài vào bài
viết của mình. Cách biến đổi:
VD1: People have different opinions as to whether a big salary is much more
important than job satisfaction or not.
- Xác định từ khóa: a big salary, more important, job satisfaction
- Tìm synonyms (từ đồng nghĩa) của 3 từ khóa trên
a big salary well-paid jobs (công việc được trả lương cao)

more important more critical (quan trọng hơn)

job satisfaction career contentment (sự thỏa mãn trong sự nghiệp)

(tra google: cụm từ + synonyms để tìm được từ đồng nghĩa)

- Thay đổi câu ban đầu bằng các từ synonyms ở trên

VD2: It is often said that a big salary is much more important than job satisfaction.
- Từ khóa: a big salary, more important, job satisfaction
- Synonyms:
a big salary a high salary

more important more essential

job satisfaction the satisfaction of employees

- Biến đổi câu: It is often said that a high salary is much more essential than the
satisfaction of employees.

Lưu ý: 2 cấu trúc trên chỉ dùng cho đề bài có 1 quan điểm duy nhất. Trường hợp đề bài cho 2
quan điểm trái ngược nhau như ở phần ví dụ - Question 0 trang bên, thì ta linh hoạt thay đổi
cấu trúc như sau:
- People have different opinions as to whether … or ….
(Mọi người có quan điểm khác nhau về việc liệu… hay …)
- It is often said that …, while others argue that …
(Người ta thường nói rằng…, trong khi những người khác cho rằng…)

Luyện viết câu (1) Background Information theo 3 bước trên
Ví dụ:
Question 0: Government should ban dangerous sports. Others think they have the
freedom to choose. Discuss both views and give your comments. (2 quan điểm trái
ngược nhau)
 2 cách viết Background Information:
(1) People have different opinions as to whether the government should prohibit
extreme sports or people should be free to take part in any sports they enjoy.
(2) It is often said that the government should prohibit extreme sports, while
others argue that they should be free to take part in any sports they enjoy.
Luyện tập
Question 1: Some people think that the government should spend money on supporting
cultural activities such as music, theater or art. Others think this is a waste of money.
Discuss both views and give your opinion. (2 quan điểm)
Question 2: In many parts of the world, some famous people are considered as ‘role
models’ and they are having an increasing influence on the young. Is this a positive or
negative development? (1 quan điểm)
Question 3: Some people say in order to prevent illness and disease, governments
should focus on reducing environmental pollution and housing problems. To what
extent do you agree or disagree? (1 quan điểm)
