TITLE: FURNACE LINING PREPARATION

INSTRUCTIONS :

 Furnace Ramming Procedure :

1. First clean the pot from inside.
2. The ramming mass to be preheated to remove the moisture before putting
into the pot.
3. The ramming mass during preheating to be checked with magnet and
unwanted material to be removed.
4. Remove old slag lumps on furnace & clean it properly.
5. Put whytheat refractory paste layer appox 5 mm inside all over Pot.
6. Fill the ramming mass in the pot up to 3 1/2-inch height.
7. Ram this ramming mass up to a height of 3 inch.
8. Keep the former on this ramming mass.
9. Fill in the ramming mass around the former to a height of 2" then
compulsory maintain to height of 1 1/2" & repeat the same till the top of the
furnace pot.
10. Fix the antenna at the bottom.
11. Fill the bottom with ramming mass up to 100mm.
12. Ram the bottom using fork and butt rods for one hour.
13. Fix the former in the crucible (Former std size)
14. Fill the ramming mass up to 3” surrounding the former & ram it with
Pneumatic Rammer for 20 mins. This procedure is continued up to top & the
outside.

 Sintering Cycle :
Switch the furnace ON / OFF as per cycle given below:
1 minOn 9 min Off 60 min
2 minOn 8 min Off 60 min
3 minOn 7 min Off 60 min
4 minOn 6 min Off 60 min
5 minOn 5 min Off 60 min
6 minOn 4 min Off 60 min
7 minOn 3 min Off 60 min

 Continuous On:
Switch the furnace ON continuously at power and time as per the instructions
given below:
0 KW 60 min
50 KW 60 min
75 KW 60 min
100 KW 60 min
125 KW 30 min
250 KW up to full melting (Super heating) & 1500 Degree Centigrade
Temperature hold
for 1 hour
Note:
Minimum Heats - 250 Nos.
Maximum Heats - 400 Nos.
Lining to be checked every day after 250 heats.
