PROJECT PROPOSAL

Sustainability
Strategy and Action
WE ARE
TRIPLE S In 2018, we, as students from the master
Leadership for Sustainability of Malmö
University, have decided to take action to
help solve the current challenges of the
world. Considering our knowledge,
different backgrounds and nationalities
we have created a junior consultancy for
sustainability.

Our vision is to make sustainability a

realistic goal for every organization. By
providing support, guidance and services,
we offer innovative solutions in areas such
as strategy, operations and
communication.

Our mission is to support the Sustainable

Development Goals from the United
Nations by connecting young
professionals with organisations that
want to create social and environmental
value along with economic profit.
WORKING WITH YOU
You are great at what you do: Finding better alternatives for sun creams
and other cosmetic products that are good for people and for the coral
reefs that are in danger of being extinct. We also understand you are
doing your best for your business to have the less impact possible on
the environment, but that operational work and product development is
taking most of your time. Our job is to make that job easier by helping
you define a clear sustainability strategy for Suntribe, by delivering
specific services targeted to your needs and by providing you with the
expertise of our consultants.

The further integration of sustainability in your businesses means that you

will be creating more competitive advantage over other sustainable
brands, reducing risks of social pressures, answer the exigencies of the
most demanding clients and, moreover, you will be attracting more
investors, since they increasingly look at sustainability to access risks, spot
opportunities and evaluate investments.

In fact there are different levels of its integration, taking into account the
business model itself, business strategy, products, culture and the level of
transparency in communication. This way, to understand better your
current needs, we have developed a pre diagnosis of your company, which
you will find in the next page. We have done it using the information taken
from our first conversation and your online communication.
PRE DIAGNOSIS
The level of priority
of each step should
be defined together
with you in the
workshop we will
further on propose

Green and red mean,

respectively, a perceived high
and low level of
implementation. Yellow means
that improvements have been
spotted and "?" means we think
we don't have enough
knowledge for a pre-evaluation.
OUR PROPOSAL
A deeper diagnosis of your company is an important step to assure our work is
relevant to Suntribe. That is why we start our proposal with a sustainability strategy
workshop that aims at creating a clear journey path for you by defining a strategy,
find areas of improvement and prioritize goals. Although not mandatory, for some of
the services that will be proposed, these are necessary steps to assure a full
integration of sustainability in any business.

Further steps can be subject to changes taking into account a final diagnosis and your
defined plan to action. Nevertheless we will present already services that aim at
tackling specific issues discussed in our first meeting, namely plastic packaging,
carbon emissions and your sustainability page. Adding to that, and because
different stakeholders are increasingly looking at supply chains, we propose two first
steps to understand better how yours is working with sustainability at different levels.

A next step would be to do a sustainability report, a more formal and detailed

version of your sustainability page with information that future investors will probably
require you to have. The United Nations strongly encourage SME's to report on their
actions. For this step, a clear direction and sustainability vision is required, which is
why the workshop is such an important step.
DEFINING SUSTAINABILITY GOALS
AND PRIORITIES
Technically we will be doing what is called in sustainability a materiality analysis
that is used both to develop companies sustainability strategy and annual
reports, and as a stakeholder management tool. (You can also use the workshop
to communicate your sustainability commitment).

This is a 3-4 hour workshop that provides the knowledge, tools and time
necessary for you to set up a plan for better integration of sustainability within
Suntribe. Where do you bring the biggest impact? What SDGs are you
contributing? What can be goals for the next 1, 3 and 5 years? What do you have
to do today to make them happen?

Deliverable:
3-4 hour workshop;
small lecture “business case of
sustainability”,
Materiality analysis,
Plan to Action
relevant frameworks and materials

Estimated hours (including preparation):

18-22h

The following proposed services

require that all managers have
common views of sustainability and
that there are clear priorities and
goals for short and medium-long
term. So we truly believe that this a
very important step!
IDENTIFYING AND RANKING
PLASTIC ALTERNATIVES
Like you, we believe plastic reduction is one of the areas you can have the
biggest impact. It’s about the way you package your products and about that
boring but required extra layer of packaging needed to ship products. We know
you already have good alternatives for some of your products, that’s great! Let
us help you giving the next step for the rest of them.

Packaging alternatives are popping up everywhere, but not all of them will fit
your needs. Also, not all alternatives are better than conventional plastic. In our
report we will present different alternatives and advice you in the one we think it
fits best each product, taking into account variables we know are important for
you like environment, product security and cost.

Deliverable:
Report with evaluation of different
possible alternatives currently
available in the market
Suggestions of potential suppliers.

Estimated hours: 5h + 5h/per product

MEASURING AND OFFSETTING
CARBON EMISSIONS
Carbon footprint is something consumers are increasingly worried about,
Measuring your impact is good for transparency reasons and because it can help
you spot areas of improvement. Further on, offsetting emissions may come as
solutions that can take different shapes. This can not only help your company
have a lower impact in the environment, but will make your customers feel
better when shopping.

To understand your CO2 impact, we can analyze data on different delivery

stages, namely from raw material suppliers to factory, factory to warehouse and
on your direct deliveries. Nevertheless, have in mind we may be limited to data
your partners release or not. Additionally, to lower that impact, we will propose
different options for offsetting your emissions. Although this can be seen as the
easy way out, it is still a great first step!

Deliverables:
Data analysis report of CO2 emissions
estimation for 1 year period on
selected stages (1);
Plan for carbon emission offset
project. This includes description of
idea, first attempting to forecasting
impacts, possible partners and steps
to achieve it. it (2);

Estimated hours: 4-6h/ per stage (1) +

3-5h(2)
COMMUNICATING SUSTAINABILITY
SUCCESSFULLY
We have seen your sustainability page and we think you are doing great with
communicating how you are helping to save the coral and trying to have less
impact with sustainable ink and paper. What about giving the next step? We
think there are areas where you can improve. We usually compare sustainability
with perfection, both impossible to attain. But you can try to be better every day
and communicate our journey (like for example with plastic). People usually like
that a lot.

We will propose an alternative layout for your page that takes into account your
efforts and impact in the different areas of sustainability using known
frameworks like SDG’s, Triple Bottom Line, Principles of UN Global Impact and
the strategy and commitment seted by you in our workshop (if any).

Deliverable:
Suggested layout for your
sustainability page.
List of do’s and dont’s of
sustainability communication to
guide you in the future.

Estimated hours: 8-12h

EVALUATING YOUR
SUPPLIERS
Sustainability also accounts for the social wellbeing of people. How are you
accountable for the extraction of your raw materials and production of your
products? How are employees of your partners treated? Do they have any
certifications? Do you have in mind any standards yo would like to require from
them? You can send out surveys to your suppliers around these questions to
start understanding better how they are dealing with the different issues.

We propose to develop for you the survey to send out. The goal is to understand
how the different suppliers respond to their environmental and social
responsibilities through their processes and certifications. Additionally, we will
provide a guideline of steps for suppliers analysis. Depending on the analysis
results you may want to establish product standards, demand more
responsibility, study new supplier options and/or disclosure information about
them (which may be required by investors and should be included in the
sustainability reporting).

Deliverable:
Suppliers survey on sustainability
issues
Guidelines for suppliers analysis

Estimated hours: 6-8h

SUSTAINABILITY
REPORTING
Being a responsible company also stands for transparency and accountability.
While having a sustainability page is good to summarize your efforts to your
clients, sustainability reporting is a more extended and formal version of that.
They are consulted specially by governments and investors to access your
efforts, company risks and contribution to society and the environment.
Additionally it is a good tool to guide the company’s strategy.

We will use GRI standards to help develop your report. To do this we will need
you to provide us with information about your business and a good
understanding of your vision and strategy of sustainability. This is why we
strongly advice the sustainability strategy workshop in the beginning.

Deliverable:
Sustainability report, following GRI
standards.

Estimated hours: 30-36h
