Good evening, today let me answer the question above.

1) Different between cover letter and CV

Before discussing the differences, I will explain the meaning between cover letter and CV.
A) Cover letter.
A cover letter is a letter that covers the key points in your experience and skill set that
prove you’re a great candidate for the job. Unlike the bullet pointed list usually found on
a CV, the cover letter reads like a letter and gives you an opportunity to deep dive into
concrete examples of your expertise.
B) CV
CV is a very detailed document that lists your work experience, skills, educational
background along with other academic achievements and it used be people pursuing a
career in academia.
In most of the rest of the world, a CV is for a job and looks exactly like it’s American
resume counterpart.
A cover letter and a CV (curriculum vitae) are both important components of a job
application, but they serve different purposes and contain different types of information:
A) Content
Cover letter: Usually consists of a header with your contact information, a greeting, an
introductory paragraph stating the purpose of the letter, one or two paragraphs
highlighting relevant experiences and qualifications, and a closing paragraph expressing
gratitude and willingness to further discuss your qualifications.
CV: Typically includes sections such as personal information, education, work
experience, skills, achievements, certifications, and sometimes references.
B) Format
Cover letter: Allows for more flexibility in format and tone. While it should be
professional, it also provides an opportunity to convey your personality and enthusiasm
for the position.
CV: Often follows a standardized format, although there can be variations in layout and
style. It tends to be more structured and objective, focusing on presenting information in a
clear and organized manner.
C) Customization
Cover letter: Should be customized for each job application to address the specific
requirements of the position and company.
CV: While you may tailor certain sections of your CV for specific positions, it generally
remains consistent across different job applications.
2) CVs important for job seekers
CV is a vital tool for showcasing your qualifications, experiences, and achievements to
prospective employers. It plays a crucial role in the job application process and can
significantly impact your chances of landing interviews and advancing in your career.
3) Information should a job applicant include in a CV
A) Personal Information
B) Education
C) Work Experience
D) Skills
