Sub: Generalised Specification of Desktop Computers (PCs)- Reg.

In pursuance of the recommendation of Computer Purchase and Network Maintenance

Committee (CP&NMC) Meeting held on 81h February 2022, the undersigned is to convey that, the
Competent Authority has approved three set of specifications as per Annexure-1, 2 and 3 (copy
enclosed) for procurement of Desktop PCs, after obtaining necessary approval from CP&NMC.

Further, in case of any procurement of Desktop PCs with requirements other than the
specifications as recommended above by CP&NMC, the respective procu ring unit should provide
proper justification for that specific requirement while forwarding the file for th e necessary
approval to CP&NMC.

This is issued with the approval of the Competent Authority.

option for their purchase of desktop computers from the GeM after getting CP&NMC approva l. Deputy
Registrar (S&P) is requested to take necessary acuons.
 Recommended Technical Specifications for Procurement of Desktop PCs

CP&NMC has recommended the technical specifications in Annexures-1, 2, and 3 for procurement
of Desktop PCs. Note that the specification in each Annexure allows for multiple options in some
components such as memory, hard disk, monitor etc. Academic/ Administrative Units should
carefully choose the appropriate option as per their requirement before starting the procurement
process. As a general guideline, a PC with 8 GB RAM and 1 TB SATA hard disk is adequate for
general office/administrative works. For academic and other technical works, higher configurations
may be chosen on a case by case only if felt necessary for the specific requirement by the procuring
unit.

In case of requirements for procurement of desktop PCs with major deviations from the attached
specifications, the respective procuring unit should provide proper justification for the deviation
while forwarding the file for approval to CP&NMC.
