SECTION – A
1 Explain the following questions in not more than 30-35 words each: (10x1=10)
a) Write short notes on glass and its uses in building interiors. (1)
b) What should be features of a good sitting furniture? (1)
c) What are the drawbacks of thermosetting plastics? (1)
d) What are various uses of textiles in building interiors? (1)
e) What are various types of decorative interior claddings available in market for walls? (1)
f) Write short note on uses of non-ferrous metals in interiors. (1)
g) List various materials that are used for acoustic panels. (1)
h) Compare ceramic tiles and stone as flooring material. (1)
i) What are the various uses of stainless steel in interior design? (1)
j) What are common injuries that can result because of bad sitting posture? (1)

SECTION – B
2 Attempt any five parts of the following question. Word limit for answers is

a) Differentiate between Anthropometry and Ergonomics with examples. (5)
b) What consideration will you have while designing a workstation for an architect’s office.

c) Distinguish between any two pairs of attributes-
i) Warm, and cold, ii) Soft and hard, iii) Feminine and masculine, iv) Playful and serious (5)
d) What are engineered woods. Explain their characteristics and uses. (5)
e) What are joints in wood? Detail draw sketches of any two joints used for wooden furniture. (5)
f) What are common thermoforming plastics used in interior designing. What are advantages
of using solid surface, explain through examples. (5)
g) What are the various uses of stones in interior design? (5)
h) Design a door handle for main entrance door of a residence. The door is made out of wood.
Explain your idea through sketches. What kind of materials will you use for the same? (5)

SECTION – C
Attempt any ONE question from this section. (1x15=15)
3 Design seating and a table for modern luxury café. The furniture should appear exclusive
and high end. Explain your idea through sketches.

What kind of materials will you choose for your furniture? (15)
4 Design a seating system for a pre- school class room (age 3-5). The furniture should consist
of chairs and tables. It should be such that it can be used for individual study and also
combined for group activities. Your designs should be appealing to the kids.
