SECTION – A
1 Attempt the following questions in not more than 30-35 words each: (10x1=10)
a) What are engineered woods? (1)
b) What should be features of a good chair? (1)
c) What are the drawbacks of thermosetting plastics? (1)
d) What are various uses of cane and bamboo in building interiors? (1)
e) What are various types of decorative interior claddings available in market for walls? (1)
f) Write brief note on uses of bronze and brass in interiors. (1)
g) “Furniture design is an integral element in the design of an interior space”. Explain briefly. (1)
h) Compare ceramic tiles and terracotta as wall tiling material. (1)
i) What are the various uses of stainless steel in interior design? (1)
j) What do you understand by “Khadi” industry? (1)

2 Attempt any five parts of the following question. Word limit for answers is
approximately 250 words each. (5x5=25)
a) Differentiate between Anthropometry and Ergonomics. Explain how ergonomics can be
applied to avoid common workplace injuries. (5)
b) What consideration will you have while designing a workstation for an architect’s office?
Support your answer with appropriate sketches. (5)
c) What are various uses of solid wood in interior design? Discuss any 5 types of wood used in
interiors. (5)
d) What are various types of glass used in interiors? Explain through examples. (5)
e) Distinguish between any two pairs of attributes-
(i) Precise and Gross; (ii) Soft and Hard; (iii) Feminine and Masculine; (iv) Playful and
serious (5)
f) What are common thermoforming plastics used in interior designing? What are advantages
of using solid surface, explain through examples? (5)
g) Design a park bench in stone material. Explain your design through sketches. Assume all
anthropometrical data. (5)
h) Design a table lamp for a kid’s bedroom. Explain your idea through sketches. What kind of
materials will you use for the same? (5)

SECTION – C
Attempt any one question from this section. (15x1)
3 Design seating and a table for upcoming Bakery and Coffee shop in Hazratganj area of
Lucknow. The furniture should appear youthful and unique. Explain your idea through
sketches. Draw plans, elevations and/or sections in appropriate scale. What materials will you
choose for your furniture? (15)
4 Design a seating system for small IT start-up consisting of 8-10 persons. The furniture should
consist of chairs and tables. It should be such that it can be used for individual workstation
and also combined for group discussions. Your designs should reflect the modern and
futuristic values of the start-up. Explain your idea through sketches and draw plans, elevations
and/or sections in appropriate scale. Assume all anthropometrical data. (15)
