orientation

Note: Common signs and symptoms of a musculoskeletal injury (MSI) can include pain,
burning, swelling, stiffness, numbness/tingling, and/or loss of movement or strength in a body
part. Report these to your supervisor.

Employers must ensure that workers are trained and follow this safe work procedure.

Steps to complete this task safely:

Note: Carrying a full box of photocopier paper poses a high risk for injury because it is heavy.
Do not carry full boxes of photocopier paper.

 When accepting delivery of photocopier paper, ask the courier to bring the boxes to the
supply room or to the photocopier.
 Cut the binding on the box with scissors and remove the lid of the box.

1
 Remove bundles of paper individually. Keep the bundles close to your body, bend your knees
and hips when reaching down, and try to keep your back straight.
 Stack the bundles on shelves or place them on a cart to distribute to the photocopiers. Use
small steps when turning rather than repetitively twisting your torso.
 Do not overload the cart so it becomes difficult to push or turn corners.
 If you walk with bundles of paper to transport them, do not carry more than three or four
bundles at a time.
