Slide 2: Right on with the iconic line said by the legendary
freedom fighter himself. Swaraj over here means
independence, so he means that the people have the right to attain independence and that nobody can take it away from them.
Slide 3: 1. He was the first leader of the Indian Independence
Movement. 2. He was also conferred with the title of “Lokmanya”, which means “accepted by the people as their leader”.
Slide 4: Bal Gangadhar Tilak was educated at Deccan College
in Pune, where he earned Bachelor’s Degrees in mathematics and Sanskrit. He then studied law at the University of Bombay. Afterwards, he became an educator, which became the basis for his political career.
Slide 5: Through those newspapers Tilak became widely
known for his bitter criticisms of the British Rule and those of moderate nationalists who advocated social reforms along Western lines.
Slide 6: The trial and sentence earned him the title Lokmanya (“Beloved Leader of the People”). He was released after 18 months
