Snippet from the manuals for server definitions:

Database Server:
A Database Server is responsible for:
• Storing the configuration and runtime information of the Honeywell DVM system.
• Processing requests and distributing state information to Honeywell DVM clients.
• Managing communication between the key components of the Honeywell DVM system.
• Managing communication between Honeywell DVM systems if the system is part of a Distributed Video Architecture.
• Managing communication between Honeywell DVM and any integrated EBI or Experion systems.
A Database Server contains the:
• DVM SQL Server database
• Audit log
• Web server and Web services

Camera Server:
Multiple Camera Servers, each on a separate machine, may exist within a single Honeywell DVM system.
Each Camera Server is capable of:
• Requesting and receiving live video and audio from streamers.
• Transmitting live video and previously recorded video to clients.
• Receiving camera control commands from clients and sending the commands to the streamers (and cameras).
• Storing video for cameras.
• Archiving video recordings to disk.
• Retrieving archived video from offline media.
• Executing server-based video analytics algorithms.
• Executing server-based camera tamper detection algorithms.
• Initiating and maintaining calls with intercom cameras.
• Managing interactions with input and output devices.
• Retrieving and streaming edge recordings for on-demand playback.

DVM VM Specification:
This is a standard spec which should be fine for NTLB + NIAC. As he said it’s easy to add more.

DVM DB Servers (x2)

 OS: W2k12 r2
 IE: 9/10/11
 Media Player: 10/11/12
 DirectX: 8.1 or above
 CPU: Quad Core
 RAM: 8GB
 Drives: 2x 75GB partitions.
Camera Server (x1)
 OS: W2k12 r2
 IE: 9/10/11
 Media Player: 10/11/12
 DirectX: 8.1 or above
 CPU: Quad Core
 RAM: 5 GB
 Drives: 2x 40GB partitions.
 IE: 9/10/11

There’s a note on VMWare PCs: Dedicated NIC (physical network connection) recommended for each Honeywell DVM Server Virtual PC. Must configure the two hard drives (Disk Set 1 and 2) above as virtual drives
connected to two dedicated physical disk drive sets.

The following should be excluded from anti-virus scans: DVM data directory (DB Servers only) and DVM Clip directory (Camera Servers Only).

User Logon and Access:

 DVM_Manager – is a local windows account that must be created on all DVM servers/storage devices where applicable and clients. It is used to It must be set to password expiry disabled, local logon can be
disabled for this account. It is used for all dvm processes/services/components and runs in the background.
 DVM_USERS – is a windows account group that domain or local accounts must be added to in order use the client side of DVM. It connects between Client machines, DB servers and Camera Servers.
 DVM_Database – is a user account group created on the database servers for database configuration tasks. This should be Honeywell use only.
 DVM_Applications – is a user account group created on the camera servers for configuration tasks. This should be Honeywell use only.

As a note, IE clients use the windows account to determine their DVM logon. These just need adding to the DVM_User group.

Operator based security is only available on console when integrated with EBI. Will have to follow the same guide as IE clients.

Detail Regarding the IS setup:

DVM Console uses HTTPS to communicate securely to Honeywell DVM Database Servers for authentication purposes. Digital certificates are used to secure this transport. The digital certificate is bound to the port
configured in IIS for HTTPS traffic on the Database Servers. This is generally port 443.
