Celebration of Advent 2007

THEME : “CHRIST is the REASON for the SEASON … BRING Christ back into
CHRISTMAS.”

I. INTRODUCTION:

Advent is a holy season of the Christian Church wherein we recall the long years
of waiting for Jesus. It is a four – week season when we take time to look into our hearts
and prepare for the coming of Jesus.

Sorrow for sin and joy of anticipating the coming of the Messiah are the spirit of
Advent. We are sorry for our sins because they make us unworthy to welcome Jesus who
is coming. Yet, we are also joyful because the coming of Jesus, our Savior, is near.

Behind all the fun, gifts, glitters and colorful decorations of the Christmas Season,
there is a very important message – a message of peace, hope and happiness. Indeed, the
spiritual message of Christmas should be the main reason for the celebration. Christmas
is a living experience of the unselfish God who loves the world so much. He gave His
only Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from the darkness of sin.

II. OBJECTIVES:

Advent 2007 aims to :

1. celebrate Advent and Christmas more fully, consciously and actively;

2. observe the spirituality of Advent and Christmas to further nourish our faith.
