NARRATIVE SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCES

A. Working with my co-workers:

PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

I participated in a group at Engine Kaye Auto Repair Shop (RGP’S) during my work
immersion experience, consisting of my classmates, who demonstrated dedication and
hard work in carrying out the tasks assigned to us by our supervisor. Because they
were affable and constantly willing to work together to ensure the achievement of
each mission. My classmates and I have had no trouble working together during our
immersion days; everyone takes responsibility for their work. Additionally, we were
able to effectively communicate and collaborate to troubleshoot any issues that arose,
leading to a smooth and successful completion of our tasks. Overall, the teamwork
and camaraderie within our group made for a positive and productive work immersion
experience at RGP’S.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Despite this, the job immersion was without any unpleasant experiences. However, I

suggest that they reduce the number of trainees they hire, as the work immersion shop

is overcrowded and some of my colleagues are not working at all. This would allow

for a more efficient and productive learning environment for all participants.

Additionally, implementing a rotation system for tasks could ensure that everyone is

actively engaged and gaining valuable experience during the work immersion.

B. Working with my Supervisor/Trainer:

PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

10
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL-TRACK

During my work immersion experience, I found it challenging to work with my

supervisor because, when I made a tiny mistake, they would rather become upset, yell

at me, and sometimes even humiliate me in front of other people or, worse, customers,

than teach me the proper way to accomplish a task. It was difficult for me to learn and

advance in my profession because of the toxic work atmosphere this generated. My

entire experience throughout the labor immersion was impacted by my sense of

discouragement and demoralization.

Recommendations:

I would advise my superiors to behave more civilly and to avoid getting unreasonable

enraged. I think the secret to handling any potential problems is to remain

professional and communicate openly. It's critical for team leaders to lead by example

and foster a respectful work atmosphere.

B. Working with community:

With regard to the RGP’S community, everything went without a hitch because the

employees were good and continuously imparted new knowledge.

Day 1:

The first day of our work immersion program was both exciting and nerve-
wracking. We met our supervisors and were given a tour of the site. After settling into
our workstations, we were tasked with our first assignment. My first job was to install
an automatic transmission on a Toyota Altis, which was a bit daunting at first, but I
quickly got the hang of it with the help of my supervisor. Firstly, I readied the tools
that I would use and the jack stand before carefully lifting the car up. We had a hard
time installing the transmission because of the torque converter, but eventually we
installed it perfectly. I installed the transmission support, and the car was finally ready
to be lowered back down.

Day 2:

This is our second day of our work immersion program, and we are excited to
learn more about the industry. Today, we continued our work on the Toyota Altis and
explored the different features and functionalities of the car. I have installed the axles,
the brake calliper, the tie rod, and every other piece of the car to ensure it is in perfect
working condition. After we finished our work, I then proceeded to the Nissan Urban
for the replacement of the brake shoe in the rear because it was worn out and needed
to be replaced as well. After this long day, we cleaned the tools that we used and put
them back in the toolbox.

Day 3:

On the 3rd day of our work immersion, as soon as I arrived, my boss told me
that the Honda Dimension car that was parked was in need of new oil. Then the car
needed to be washed as well. They also told me that they wanted to lower the car and
change the brake shoe in the rear of the car. I then cleaned the area of what I was
doing and put the new brake shoe in place. Finally, I lowered the car and washed it to
complete the job.

Day 4:

Today, the Honda Dimension needed a top overhaul in order to address the
engine issues it was experiencing. First, I removed the valve cover and then the head
of the cylinder head to access the pistons and replace the damaged parts. After

12

removing the parts, I saw that the clearance in the pistons was too wide and needed to
be adjusted before reassembly. I carefully adjusted the clearance in the pistons to
ensure proper functioning of the engine. It was getting late, so we packed up our
things and will continue the work tomorrow morning. We were making good progress
and were excited to see the engine running smoothly again.

Day 5:

Today, there were a lot of customers, and the Honda Dimension was not at
the top of the list. But I removed the cylinder head, crankcase, piston, and engine
block to clean them to make the overhauling process easier. I then assisted the
mechanics on their work because they needed assistance and I was the only one
available at the moment . It was a long and challenging process, but we were able to
successfully complete the overhaul.

Day 6:

Today was our sixth day of our work immersion program, and we have
learned so much about the industry. Today, we overhauled an automatic transmission
system and learned how to troubleshoot common issues. I then get the tools for the
boss because I know nothing about overhauling an AT. I then saw how the boss
overhauled an AT and what parts he did replace . It was a great learning experience to
see the process up close.

Day 7:

On the 7th day, I assisted them with the installation of the automatic
transmission. I got them the tools that they would use for a smooth job. I next
proceeded to remove the clutch master assembly on the other car so that they could
focus on the transmission installation without any interruptions. After I replaced the
clutch master assembly, I then cleaned the tools that I used and packed my things up
to leave. I double-checked that everything was in place before heading out for the day.

Day 8:

Today, we overhauled a KIA because of the broken water jackets that led to
the mixture of water and oil. The engine was completely seized and needed extensive

13
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL-TRACK

repairs. After I removed the cylinder head, I saw that there was a large clearance in
the piston, I also saw that the piston rings had damage and would need to be replaced.

Day 9:

On the ninth day, we put the overhauled engine back in the Honda
Dimension. After we put back the engine, the boss gave me the work to put back all
the parts and the engine support, and then I carefully put back the intake manifold,
exhaust manifold, alternator, compressor, and belts. After putting back all the parts
and engine support, I successfully started the engine and confirmed that it was
running smoothly. I was relieved that all my hard work had paid off.

Day 10:

The last day of our work immersion program was filled with mixed emotions
as we said our goodbyes and reflected on all that we had learned. The last job that I
did was to put back the parts that we removed from the KIA. As I finished putting
back the last part, I couldn't help but feel proud of how much I had grown during this
experience. I had gained valuable skills and knowledge that would stay with me for a
lifetime. As I looked back at the KIA, now fully assembled and running smoothly, I
felt a sense of accomplishment and gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a
rewarding program. The work immersion experience had not only enhanced my
technical abilities but also taught me the importance of teamwork and dedication in
achieving success.

Summary:

The work immersion program spanned ten days, during which the participants
experienced a variety of tasks and challenges in the automotive industry. From installing
transmissions and overhauling engines to assisting with troubleshooting and repairs, each day
presented new learning opportunities. As the program concluded, participants reflected on
their growth, gained skills, and the value of teamwork and dedication in achieving success.
