REFLECTION # 1
Before starting this English SBA. I believed that divorce is when a husband and wife sign a contract
that will end their marriage.
Artifact1: (Brianna,2006) poem was reflective. The poem reflects the impact of divorce on children. It
shaped my thinking because I understand why we feel the way we do (angry, sad, helpless, weak etc.)
because it shares all the elements leading up to such phenomenon such as heartbreaks.
Artifact 2: (Alexandra, 2021) poster was reflective. It deepens my emotional feeling and thinking by
highlighting, mostly the emotional effect and potential trauma that divorce can cause to young children.
The researcher is prompted on how divorce affects children academic performance due to emotional
stress and tensions.
Artifact 3: (Jay, 1994) article was informative. This article showed how divorce can severely have
permanent, long-term impact on both mothers and children – also leading into adulthood. Also in the
article, the preponderance evidence suggests that women and children mostly experience substantial
financial stress.
It is advisable therefore, before considering divorce, to think about the effects it may have on your
child/children and how it will have tremendous impact on their behavior, their academics, etc. And can
lead to depression, anxiety and health disorders as well, simply by not seeing both parents together.
