MODULE 12: TRAUMA AND BURNS


DAY 2

Patient X, a 58-year-old, 60kg male was working as a janitor at Gullas College of Medicine Banilad and on April 29,
2024 at 9am he accidentally touched an exposed live wire left unattended by the construction team while he was
mopping. He hits his head as he fell, lost consciousness and was immediately brought the Emergency Department
for further management, where you were the Surgical Physician on duty.

Questions:
1. What is the proper format in the history taking for trauma patients?
2. Describe your approach in the initial assessment and resuscitation of the patient?

After initial resuscitation, patient was then transported to a private room and was closely monitored. The next day
the nurse on duty referred to you that the patient had been complaining of numbness on his right arm. You went to
check on the patient where you noted that his right arm was tight and edematous, with pain elicited upon flexion of
the right wrist and absent radial pulse.
