SECOND SEMESTER – 2022/2023 ACADEMIC YEAR
CENG 160 – GRAPHICS AND COMPUTER AIDED CIVIL ENGINEERING DRAWING
EXERCISE 1 (5%)

As a beginner user of the CAD application, the student will learn and draw simple orthographic drawings
and the other information required to produce said drawings. AutoCAD is one of the graphic/drawing
software in architectural design. This exercise aims to assess the knowledge in the practical application,
systematic drawing order, and competency in drawings software technology application.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
1. This is an Individual exercise.
2. You have 1 week/7 days to finish this exercise.
3. Draw the following orthographic drawing using AutoCAD 2022 English.
4. Plagiarism is not allowed, anyone caught doing so will be given 0 including the student that helped.
5. Save the file name according to this format: Student ID No._Student Name_Section #_Exercise 1.dwg.
6. Submit of dwg file will be on Blackboard/Teams under the assignments tab as follow:
- Tuesday (March 21, 2023), 11:59 PM for U and T classes.
- Wednesday (March 22, 2023), 11:59 PM for M and W classes.
- Thursday (March 23, 2023), 11:59 PM for M and H classes.
7. Grade deduction applies for late submission, 10/100-point per day late. No submission will be
accepted after 3 days from due date.
8. You have only 5 attempts to submit on BB, hence, attach and name the correct dwg file carefully.
9. The student has the full responsibility that the submitted dwg folder on BB is working and include the
required drawings.
10. Any Dwg folder submitted using other versions rather than 2022 or (lower) will not be considered.
11. The student must decide on any missing dimension according to approximation.
12. The student must create the drawing in the AutoCAD 2022 English application according to the
drawings and dimensions given.
13. The student is encouraged to submit earlier than the due submission date.
EXERCISE GUIDELINES:
1. Template = Acadiso.dwt
2. The drawing units are in millimeters (mm).
3. Precision to be set to 0.0.
4. For the 4 corners use fillet command with radius 500 mm.
5. For the crescent/ c- shape with solid hatch use fillet command with radius of 100 mm.
6. Offset for the Internal Circles and polygons is 50 mm.
7. Use the same Hatch styles as in the exercise drawing. There are 4 different Hatches.
8. You do not have to make any dimensions in the exercise.
