Ringette
Imagine playing a game of ice hockey but instead of using a hockey stick
and a puck, you use a long flat stick and a ring. Now imagine that you
only have 30 seconds from when your team gets the ring to score a goal.
That’s Ringette. It started in Ontario, Canada in 1963 as a winter team
sport.
Each player wears ice skates, warm clothes, gloves and a helmet to
protect their head. Just like ice hockey, there are six players on each
ringette team and two teams play in each match. Each team scores points
by hitting the ring into the goal at the other end of the ice rink.
A game of ringette is very fast and exciting – you should give it a try!
Play it because it’s fun and a great way to keep fit!
