● Most of the questions that were asked in IAT 2021 were predicted by the
mentors.
● Level of paper remains easy as compared to other subjects. So if you have
biology in +2, then it can surely enhance your marks if ncert is followed
thoroughly.
● Many straightforward questions are asked alongwith conceptual topics. So,
both conceptual understanding as well as constant revision is required to get
good marks in the biology section.
● There is no particular area which is marked by the examiner(seen in case of
nest). So, it will be good to cover all the topics once.
● PYQ reveals that both concepts as well as facts are equally important in the
biology section.
● Analysis of pyq suggests that the trend is shifting slowly towards conceptual
topics (but this statement does not say that you should leave the facts
because fact-based questions can give us equal marks as conceptual topics
in relatively less time).
● PYQ analysis tells us that the following chapters are more frequently asked in
biology:
1. Ecology - Biological interactions, Growth curves, Biodiversity.
2. Biotechnology - various steps involved in recombinant DNA
technology, manipulation of plasmids.
3. Molecular biology- Events related to discovery of DNA as genetic
material, Processes of central dogma, regulation of gene expression.
4. Human health and disease - Immunology part.
5. cell biology(both structure and division) - structure and functions of
various cell organelles, most important part is cell division.
6. plant and animal physiology - plant (photosynthesis + respiration),
animal physiology(all the chapters have equal weightage(since mostly
fact based questions are asked.
7. plant and animal morphology(facts mentioned in the chapters like floral
formula and floral diagram, for animal morphology - mostly facts related
to animal tissues is asked.
8. diversity in the living world - Characters and Examples of all the
phylums are important.
9. Biomolecules - enzyme kinetics, protein structure.
