These fund projects beneficial to many creative chapter projects.. This is above
and beyond our usual support which is paid out of the treasury. Jan requested
that $5 be paid by each member at the May Banquet.
C. Mystery Mania was discussed as a fundraising project. A conclusion was
reached to hear the Treasurer’s report in May to determine our financial state
before starting this project. Jenny Harrison and Shawna Garcia have
volunteered to head the project but will need several volunteers to assist them.
D. Area 8 Luncheon, May 4 at Golden Corral, Waco was announced. Jan needs to
know if members plan to attend by May 1.
VII. Program
A. Mary Lively led members Susan Stepp, Jenny Harrison, Christy Chester, Elaine
Hall and Paula Howard in Reviewing Key Women Educators of DKG: Founder
Dr. Annie Webb Blanton,Mrs. Ray King, Miss Ruby Cole, Miss Anna Hiss, and
Miss Lela Lee Williams. Thank you, Ladies
B. Mary also led members: Lawana Jones, Sherry Shaw, and Pat Denning in the
2024 Initiation Ceremony. Janelle Barclay, escorted by Twylah Beaty, was
inducted and welcomed as a key woman educator of Iota Upsilon chapter of
Delta Kappa Gamma. The DKG purposes and symbols were explained and
Janelle pledged her support.
C. Iota Upsilon also welcomed Susan Richardson who transferred her membership
from another chapter. We look forward to enjoying and working with these new
members.
VIII. Just for Fun
A. SOAR Award was not presented at this meeting
B. Gratitude Gab: Janelle was grateful for her 5 children and that her only daughter
recently graduated with her Master’s Degree in Albuquerque,
Wilma Lee was grateful as her Great Niece will be playing softball for
Baylor University and her Granddaughter will be a twirler for
Texas Tech University. Susan Richardson’s oldest Granddaughter is expecting.
Twylah was grateful for Lawana, who subbed in her classroom of 3 to 5 year olds
for an entire week.
C. Thoughts were shared about our Salad Supper being our favorite meal.
D. The Door Prize was won by Terri Evridge from Linda Seth.
