What does professionalism mean to me?
To be a professional is to know how to manage and
utilize knowledge in the way we think, speak and
behave. We can consider many factors in our efforts to
learn the necessary skills which help us to
improve. For example:
▪ Attitude: Calmness during stressful situations can be
the best way to manage my emotions. What kind of
attitude helps me to resolve any conflict? Being
polite and respectful of the thoughts and ideas of
others is one way to act without
being unprofessional.
▪ Ethics: Trying to behave honestly, admitting my
mistakes and learning from them. Following societal
rules and having good morals and character.
▪ Communication: This is key to helping me connect
with people; by demonstrating respectfulness. The
way I speak, read and write. Using appropriate
language in the workplace in your daily
conversations says a lot about me as well as it does
about you.
