ABSTRACTION:

The teacher will present the lesson and give some examples.

Myth - a classic or legendary story that usually focuses on a certain hero or event and explains mysteries
of nature, existence, or the world with no real basis in fact. Characters in myths—usually gods,
goddesses, warriors, and heroes—are frequently responsible for the creation and preservation of
natural elements, as well as physical, emotional, and practical aspects of human existence.

Mythology - a collection of myths or stories about a specific person, culture, religion, or any group with
shared beliefs.

Different Types of Myth

1. Creation Myth - describe how the Earth or a group of people came to be.

Examples:

- The Earth on Turtle's Back

- How the World was Made

- When Grizzlies Walked Upright

- The Myth of Malakas and Maganda

- Bathala and Sinta

2. Nature Myth - describe why something in nature is the way it is.

Examples:
- The Search for Adarna

- Sarimanok

- The Story of the First Hummingbird

- Why the Cat Always Falls upon Her Feet

- Why the Sea Is Salt

- Golden-rod and Aster

3. Hero Myth - describe the quest or adventure of a hero or heroine.

Examples:

- The Sword in the Stone

- Harry Potter

- The Search for Adarna

- The Bird with Nine Heads

- Robin Hood and his Merry Men

4. Greek and Roman Myth - describe the actions of gods and goddesses.

Examples:

- The Odssey

- Pandora's Box

- Percy Jackson

- Cupid and Psyche

- Romulus and Remus
