sheet of paper.

Situation

ISLAND FRUITS
The Philippines consists of thousands of islands and Mindoro as one of these
is the seventh largest in the country which is located in Luzon and northeast part
of Palawan. This particular island has twin provinces namely: Occidental Mindoro
and Oriental Mindoro. The primary source of income for most Mindoreños is
through agriculture like products consisting of a wide variety of fruits. Fruits that
are shipped to Manila and exported in Divisoria in Binondo, Manila, and
Balintawak market in Quezon City include: citrus, rambutan, mango, lanzones,
mangosteen, dragon fruit, banana, durian, and watermelon. Because of the
differences in humidity and temperature in the twin provinces, not all of the fruits
available in one province can also be found in the other province. From the list of
the given fruits, all are available in both places except for the dragon fruit which
cannot be found in Oriental Mindoro while durian, lanzones, rambutan, and
mangosteen which cannot grow in Occidental Mindoro. Fruits that are also
available in both provinces but are not exported are the following: guava, atis,
chico, santol, papaya, pineapple, avocado, guyabano, and jackfruit.
Below is the diagram of the situation.

MY CHOICE
Occidental Mindoro National High School in Mamburao is the largest school in
the Division of Occidental Mindoro in terms of the population of teachers as well
as students. Last school year 2022-2023, there are 1151 Junior High School
Completers from the main campus and San Luis Extension. One of the terminal
requirements in Mathematics of Grade 10 students is the conduct of a mini-
research about any topic of their preference with at least 100 respondents. One of
the most interesting topics that were defended was the choices of the students on
the learning modality in the New Normal which was conducted by Gerald and his
group mates. They have included 170 respondents which were randomly selected
from the different sections in Grade 10. The respondents were asked which learning
modality works for them. The result of the survey revealed that 115 students prefer
online classes, 110 prefer face-to-face classes and 130 prefer modular learning.
Also, 85 want to have an online class and modular, 75 want to have online and
face-to-face, 95 want face-to-face and modular, and 70 want all these three
learning modalities.

VEGETABLE FARMING
During the peak of COVID-19 pandemic, most of the families was afraid to
go out because of the feeling of getting infected. Many families were dependent to
the relief goods given by the government. Mang Tony’s family was one of the families
who was affected. It was hard for them to cope with their daily livings.

It was a tough time for them but being a farmer, he thought of going back to
farming after the government lifted the Enhance Community Quarantine (ECQ) to
General Community Quarantine (GCQ) to attend the needs of his family. He also
thought of selling some portion of his land. The total land area of his farm is 3
hectares or 30,000 square meters.

He decided to sell 10,000 to have initial money to fund his farming. He

decided plant vegetables. The remaining land, half of it was planted pechay and
the other half was eggplant and string beans.

In 2020, the farm gate price of pechay was Php. 17.00 per kilogram, eggplant
and string beans were Php. 80.00 per kilogram. Mang Tony was so lucky to
abundant harvest during that time.

Thus, in 2021 the farm gate price of pechay, eggplant and string beans were
Php. 20.00, Php. 85.00 and Php. 75.00 per kilogram respectively.

Mang Tony harvested 350 kilograms of pechay, 260 kilograms and 250
kilograms of eggplant and string beans every cropping.

A CRY
Mindoro farmers nowadays face challenging circumstances. In spite of
playing a crucial role, they remain the poorest of the poor in our society.
Considering the huge increase in the cost of gasoline, prime commodities,
agricultural inputs and Rice Tarrification Law, farmers are comparable to soldiers
who are not armed during the combat. Their cry of helplessness is inevitable. With
this regard, farm economist Patricio Rodota will decide on whether he will continue
his passion in farming or not. To find out if farming is still profitable, he collected
the following data on the production of his agricultural products for three
consecutive years. The average for three years will somehow help him assess if he
will continue farming or just look for another job with a higher income.

school principal and all the faculty members of Occidental Mindoro National
High School anticipated the possible effects on the school community. Not
wearing a school uniform may increase the cases of bullying because it may
lead to discrimination. Trespassers may come to school anytime because
school authorities may not easily identify them as they enter the school
premise. Not wearing of school uniforms may increase the allocation of each
family for clothing. As a Grade Level Chairman, you still want to hear the
voices of the parents regarding this issue. Parent-teacher conference was

bring 15 kilos of rice, 15 cans of sardines, and 15 packs
of noodles.

3. D Analyzing Since there are three members Archie, Brenda, and

Carlo, where two of them are needed to hike in pairs
while the other hike alone. They switched pairs as they
hike yet they still reach their destination together. This
is similar to the associative property where there exist
three members and the order in which the members
are grouped does not affect the sum or product.

4. B Evaluating The equation that represents Associative property is

(a+b)+c=a+(b+c). In symbol Brenda (b), Archie (a), and
Carlo (c). The situation shows Brenda and Archie
hiking together and Carlo alone (b+a)+c then it
switches to Brenda hiking alone while Archie and
Carlo hike in pairs b+(a+c). Thus can be equated as
(b+a)+c=b+(a+c)

5. A Understanding Closure property is defined as two/three integers that

are added and multiplied to remain as integers.
Hypothetically connecting to the three friends hike
together forming a bond and becoming closer to each
other. The pendant is proof of their act in friendship.

1. C Remembering 9√7 meters is an irrational number because of √7

which has no exact square root and cannot be
𝑎𝑎
expressed in the form . Also, when extracted, this will
𝑏𝑏

give a non-terminating or non-repeating decimal.

2. A Understanding The principal root of the length of Flores L = √100 is 10

and the principal root of the length of Fontanilla L=
√225. They are Rational numbers because 100 and
225 are perfect square numbers that can be written in
𝑎𝑎
the form .

WEEK 6.2 EXPLANATION/RATIONALIZATION

Answer Cognitive Process

Dimension

1. A Remembering The two numbers with perfect square that are in between
the square root 23 are 4 and 5. The square of 4 is 16 and
the square 5 is 25. Number 23 is in between numbers 16
and 25.

2. B Understanding The sides of the table has only one measure which is 16
because 24 minus 8 is 16.

3. C Analyzing The square root of the area of the longer table is between
19 and 20 because the area of the longer table is 384

4. B Applying The two integers where the square of the area of the
longer table is between them are 19 and 20. Since the
area of the longer table is 381 and the numbers with
perfect square that are on its both sides are 361 which

Answer
Dimension
1. B Remembering The two integers between √30,000 which are perfect
squares are 25,000 and 36,000. The square root of
25,000 is 500 and the square root of 36,000 is 600.

2. C Understanding To find the total earnings of Mang Tony, multiply

first the kilograms of vegetables to its price. 350 kilograms
of pechay x Php 20.00 is equal to 7000. 260 kilograms of
eggplant x Php 85.00 is 22,100 and 250 kilograms of
string beans x Php 75.00 is 18,750, then find the total of
the amount cost of the three vegetables, Php 7000 + Php
22,100 + Php 18,750 and that is Php 47,850, lastly
subtract the expenses cost to the total amount cost of the
three vegetables Php 47,850 – Php 20,000 = 27,850, then
find its square root, that is 166.88

3. B Applying Previous: Php.20.00+ Php.85.00 + Php.75.00 = Php.

205.00
