Dear Sir,

As already requested earlier, the design of road bridges should be submitted based on the IRC codal provisions with
limit state method of design. The design submitted via trailing email is based on SLS design only. In view of the
above, please submit the revised design based considering the following:

The cross section of the road bridge should also be submitted with both side crash barriers, duly clarifying the
overall slab width, clear carriageway, footpath width, dimensions of raised slab etc. The arrangement of the
girders should also be clarified explicitly, if the girders are symmetrical with respect to the deck slab.
The referred issue was also discussed in earlier meetings, the arrangement in GAD with ballast retainer
dividing the road and railway traffic cannot be adopted.
The live load effects may please be re-checked, the LL bending moment of around 180 tm is considered in
the SLS design of both 26m & 40m span. The LL moments cannot be the same for the span of 26m &
40m. The grillage model should also be prepared/submitted for the evaluation & verification of LL as well as
SIDL effects.
The congestion factor should also be considered in the design note. It is also not clear whether the
impact factor has been considered in the design forces due to LL.
The verification of superstructure under Special vehicle loading should also be covered in the design
note.
The load factors at ULS stage should be considered as per relevant IRC codal provisions.
The design should please be reviewed in reference to the corrections incorporated earlier for the railway
bridges.
As there is a 3-girder system, please ensure that there is no tension at bearing location under any live load
position.

So please review the details thoroughly in reference to the above comments. The details can be discussed in an
online meeting after being reviewed at your end.
