Q1) A game of numbers has cards marked with 11, 12, 13, ... 40. A
card is drawn at random. Find the probability that the number on the
card drawn is :
(i) A perfect square (ii) Divisible by 7

Q2) Sixteen cards are labeled as a, b, c,......., m, n, o, p. They are put in


a box and shuffled. A boy is asked to draw a card from the box. What
is the probability that the card drawn is:
(a) a vowel
(b) a consonant
(c) none of the letters of the word median

Q3) Cards bearing numbers 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 are kept
in a bag. A card is drawn at random from the bag. Find the probability
of getting a card which is:

(iv) an odd number.

Q4) There are 25 discs numbered 1 to 25. They are put in a closed box
and shaken thoroughly. A disc is drawn at random from the box. Find
the probability that the number on the disc
(i) an odd number
(ii) divisible by 2 and 3 both.
(iii) a number less than 16.
Q5) Each of the letters of the word 'AUTHORIZES' is written on
identical circular discs and put in a bag. They are well shuffled. If a
disc is drawn at random from the bag, what is the probability that the
letter is:
(i) a vowel
(ii) one of the first 9 letters of the English alphabet which appears in
the given word
(iii) one of the last 9 letters of the English alphabet which appears in
the given word?

Q2) A bag contains a black ball, a red ball and a green ball, all the balls
are identical in shape and size. Mohit takes out a ball from the bag,
without looking into sit. What is the probability that the ball drawn is:
(iii) green ball ?
(ii) black ball ?
(i) red ball ?

Q3) From a well-shuffled deck of 52 cards, one card is drawn. Find the
probability that the card drawn will:
(i) be a face card
(ii) not be a face card.
Q4) In a badminton match between Rajesh and Joseph, the
probability of winning of Rajesh is 0.58. Find the probability of :
(i) not winning of Rajesh,
(ii) winning of Joseph.

Q6) A dice is thrown once. Find the probability of getting :


(i) an odd number
(ii) a number greater than 4
(iii) a number between 2 and 6

Q7) A card is drawn from a pack of 100 cards numbered 1 to 100. Find
the probability of drawing a number which is a perfect square.

Q8) A dice is rolled two times or two dice are rolled together. Find the
probability of getting :
(i) an even number on each dice.
(ii) a prime number on each dice.
(iii) a composite number on each dice.

Q9) A bag contains 5 red balls and some blue balls. If the probability
of drawing a blue ball from the bag is thrice that of a red ball, find the
numbér of blue balls in the bag.
Q10) A bag contains white, black and red balls only. A ball is drawn at
random from the bag. If the probability of getting a white ball is 3/10
and that of a black ball is 2/5 then find the probability of getting a red
ball. If the bag contains 20 black balls then find the total number of
balls in the bag.
Q11) Red queens and black jacks are removed from a pack of 52
playing cards. A card is drawn at random from the remaining cards,
after reshuffling them. Find the probability that the drawn card is (i) a
king, (ii) of red colour, (iii) aface card, (iv) a queen.
