seabin intro & initiation : Assalamualaikum and a very good evening to Teacher Yusdiana, Teacher
Shalizawati and fellow students.
(Introduce nama masing2) total cost and comparison: In total, this prototype cost us around RM 43.10 to produce. However, keep in mind that it costs that much because we calculate the cost of the materials based on their market value. The materials we used for this prototype are recycled, which means the only part where we actually have to spend money on is just the water pump. Speaking about cost, this leads us to the next part, which is in what ways our repurposed version of seabin is better than it's industrial counterpart Firstly, it is more sustainable. Our version uses repurposed materials rather than using recycled materials like its industrial counterpart. By repurposing it requires zero need for machinery works, therefore reducing carbon footprint emission. Secondly, like I said before, it is cost-efficient. Most of the items used are repurposed materials such as the jar and filter which reduces the cost of materials required. Besides that, the pump used is made for public use, which is for small aquariums, hence it does not require a lot of electricity. Thirdly and lastly, it is accessible to civilians. Its original counterpart are made on industrial scale, which is only used in big body of waters. But what about people who want to keep their homes safe? For example, someone who has a pond could really use the seabin. Unfortunately, it is unavailable for citizens to use daily. So, what’s the solution? The answer is our version of seabin. We aim our product to be used daily by civilians so that even small bodies of water can be kept clean. With our version of the seabin, dirty ponds, pools and fountains are no longer a problem as it can be accessed by anyone as long as it is used in a calm body of water. Today, my friends and I will present our innovation, which is a reusable version of an existing invention called "Seabin". You are probably wondering, what in the world is a seabin? Seabins are a type of floating rubbish bins used in marinas and ports to collect debris from the water's surface. Its pump filters out pollutants like plastics and oils, depositing them into a catch bag. Clean water is then pumped back into the ocean. However, Seabins are produced on an industrial scale, making it inaccessible for civilian usage. This problem made us come up with the initiative to make a new version of it that is cheaper, more sustainable version of seabin that can be used by anyone so that even small body of waters can be cleaned.
