What is my role as an “educator”?

The teacher is said to be one of the prime movers of the educational wheel,
thus, he/she plays significant roles for learning to happen. Teachers are also the
most important learning material in the classroom setting because he/she could
perform various learning tasks and help learners learn without the help of any
technology and other instructional materials.
Further, teachers are also the motivator inside the class, it is his/her role to
catch the attention and interests of the learners in order for learning the concept
meaningfully to exist. That is why one of our duty is to understand the diversity of our
learners in order to provide the appropriate teaching approaches and cater their
learning needs. The diversity in our class is very evident that without properly
recognizing their needs, strengths, interests, and experiences we cannot always
assure that learning experiences we provide will mold them as lifelong learners.
The Theory of Multiple Intelligences must be taken into consideration when
providing learning activities to our learners. So most teachers provide differentiated
activities as these will help learners develop their full potential. Further, we all know
that they learn at different paces, so with this idea we will be able to make
modifications with our teaching-learning practices.
Being an educator posed greater responsibility, so we must possess qualities
that will help us perform our duties. These qualities include having the passion to
teach, being a great motivator, a jack-of-all-trades, a provider, a good counselor and
being dedicated and committed to work. Having these qualities, I could say that we
will fully perform our roles and provide meaningful experiences to our learners and
shape them as lifelong learners.
