Note:Present (Continuous) Progressive Tense can be used in quite
a few situations in English.Here are Two of its very common uses.
Use-1:For on-going activities/actions (OR)Something you’re doing
at the time of speaking.(OR)Something is happening at the moment.
♦Positive Sentences:
(a)She’s (is) reading her favorite novel.
(b)We’re (are) watching a new Indian movie.
(c)I’m (am) taking my class now.
Note: ”is,am,are” are used as Helping(auxiliary)Verbs in this
tense.
(a)is + he,she,it or any other 3rd person singular subject.
(b)are + we,you,they,or any other 3rd person plural subject.
(c)am + I only.
♦Negative Sentences:
(a)She is not reading her favorite novel.
(b)We are not (aren’t) watching a new Indian movie.
(c)I am not taking my class now.
♦Interrogative Sentences:
(a)Is she reading her favorite novel?
(b)Are we watching a new Indian movie?
(c)Am I taking my class now?
♦Interrogative Sentences:
(a)Is She not reading her favorite novel?
(OR)
Isn’t she reading her favorite novel?
(b)Are we not watching a new Indian movie?
(OR)
Aren’t we watching a new Indian movie?

Yes/NO QUESTIONS
(1)Is she reading a book now?
(a)Yes.(b)Yes,she is. (A Positive Answer)
(b)No.(b)No,she is not. (A Negative Answer)
(2)Are you watching a movie now?
(a)Yes.(b)Yes,we are. (A Positive Answer)
(b)No.(b)No,we are not. (A Negative Answer)
WH-QUESTIONS
(1)What are you doing now?
(2)Why is she shouting at her kids again?
(3)Who is making this terrible noise in the classroom?
Use-2:At times,Present Progressive can also be used to talk about
people’s clothes and accessories at the time of speaking or
describing in the present.
Example Sentences:
(1)She’s wearing a white suit.= She’s in a white suit now.
(2)My youngest son is wearing black jeans and a white shirt.
(3)All students are wearing their school uniform.
(4)His wife is wearing a necklace.
(5)Why are you wearing sun glasses now?
Note:However,use Simple Present to describe people’s clothes or
accessories while talking about their routine.
Example Sentences:
(1)I don’t wear a tie to work on Fridays.
(2)Do you wear Shalwar Qameez on Fridays?
(3)She doesn’t wear western clothes much.
(4)He wears glasses out in the sun.
