DOES GOD STILL SPEAK?

When Christian students want to choose a course of

study, they are advised to pray about it and seek
God. If you want to embark on a new business deal
or travel to another country, you are encouraged to
pray about it. Then when it comes to marriage,
somebody comes out and declares, 'GOD DOES
NOT INVOLVE HIMSELF WITH FINDING
LIFE'S PARTNER ANYMORE SINCE AFTER
WHAT HAPPENED IN EDEN'.

My worry then is, 'when has the Holy one become

so busy that he does not have time to sign marriage
contracts? Could it be possible that man has made
Him afraid that He is so scared to involve in another
Marriage? Is marriage earthly; is it man's make up
that it does not bear any divine relevance? Does
God's comprehensive plan include man's marriage?

With these questions going through your holy heart,

you would immediately see the satanic conspiracy
on this matter.

I want to declare to you, 'God is not giving up on

marriage yet; he is still involved'. In fact any
foundation that is not laid by God is bound to crash.

And unfortunately, when the chip are down, men
tend to run to God to get His involvement. Sadly
enough, God does not finish what he did not start.

Marriage is divine; marriage is not earthly. Marriage

is God’s set up to accomplish His purpose on earth.
Marriage is God's number one strategy to fulfilling
divine mandate on earth.

Both the devil and God knows that, whoever wins

that battle of Marriage, wins for life. No wonder hell
is fighting marriages with such vehemence. It is no
longer new that an error is the Home system
becomes a local, national, continental, global and
eventually a Trans generational error.

Apart from the fact that God has a will in every

detailed aspects of our lives, Marriage is top priority.

Misconception:

When we say, 'God speaks in marriage'

Several persons take it to another extreme by

expecting to hear some form of audible voice. Not
undermining the place of voices, what this means is
that GOD IS STILL CONCERNED AND
INVOLDED IN MARRIAGE.

HOW DO I KNOW IT IS GOD?

This question has posed a strong challenge among

believers and nonbelievers alike. After some persons
have agreed that God is still speaking on issues of
Marriage choices, the next challenge has been, how
do we know it is God? Because I want to be very
sure.

This is a genuine concern. If you have this concern,

here is what you must know:

God is a loving God: I know that by now you may

not have recovered from the picture of God most of
our pastors have painted to us; they make it look like
if you must hear God, you must climb the mountain
of prayer and fasting. And then you must really be
in spirit. If not God cannot talk; God does not just
talk like that. THIS IS FALLACY.

Like a father, our good father, we can just walk up

to God and enquire something from Him and He
would answer us. This is the difference between the
old and the new Testament. In fact God has been
speaking but you are not listening or you cannot
hear.

Next is:

God knows your capabilities: He knows how best

you can understand. If a nursery school teacher
could be that kind in communicating to her kids,
how much more God. Even if you are in spiritual
nursery school, God can still get to you. Only decide
to hear Him.

God is patient with you: He knows how long it will

take you to agree with Him so He has also factored
that into the entire event.

Lastly: HOW CAN I KNOW IT IS GOD?

ANSWER: the same way you knew you were saved.

The same way you knew God was leading you to
host that program. The same way, you knew you
should not travel and you didn't then something
happened along the way. THE SPIRIT WILL BEAR
WITNESS WITH YOUR SPIRIT THAT THIS IS
THE WILL OF GOD. Then you will have absolute
peace.

Marriage is no exception. Though it is an important

decision, IT IS NOT ESTRANGED FROM GOD'S
STANDARD PRINCIPLES.

CONVICTION

Conviction is one of the most misunderstood words

when talking about knowing the will of God. The
matter as always is that several persons do not know
how to stay in the middle; they are always at one
extreme or the other.

Conviction is NOT CONFUSION.

Conviction does NOT have any explanation.

Conviction does NOT support generalization.

It is personal yet it is divine. Conviction is the

absolute awareness by an advanced knowing that a
matter is so without finding any human evidence to
prove it. Conviction is what happens when someone
tells you your name is Kevin. You looked at him,
without any desire to argue, smiled and walked on.

One may ask, what is wrong with you?

You have a knowing. One that is not from the senses

yet has APPEALED TO THE SENSES. This is a
strong area. You may want to slow down a little bit.

Conviction starts; originates from the spirit but bears

a physical acceptance. IT IS THAT POINT WHERE

THE SPIRIT AND SOUL AGREES ON A
MATTER.

The spirit says it, and the soul understands and

accepts it. This is where several brethren miss it.
Some say conviction is of the soul (mind, will,
emotion). Some stay on this other edge proclaiming,
'it is a spiritual thing; you don't have to like it. Just
agree'. Now permit me to do a little Bible exposition.

Do not be conformed to this world (this age),

[fashioned after and adapted to its external,
superficial customs], but be transformed (changed)
by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new
ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove
[for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable
and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good
and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
ROM. 12:2 AMP

ATTRIBUTES OF THE WILL OF God:

 They are good

 They are acceptable
 They are perfect

I want to insist on you first and foremost that your

convictions must be based on the will of God. And
if so, it means you will have conviction on what is:

  Good,
 Acceptable, and
 Perfect.

Confusion is a type of conviction. CONFUSION IS

CONVICTION OUTSIDE THE WILL OF GOD.

EXAMPLES:

you can't have the a conviction to marry another

person's wife: IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, so error.

You can't have a conviction to marry an unbeliever:

IT IS NOT PERFECT (it is an unequal yoking)

You can't have a conviction to marry your sister like

Ammon did: IT IS NOT GOOD.

Every conviction must be tested on these 3 premise.

Don't go away into the spirit and ignore principles,
if not you might get lost in the realms.

We will continue to look at conviction.

PROVING A GENUINE CONVICTION.

Don't let any man force a conviction on you.. Don't

allow any man to lure you into thinking that
conviction cannot be proven. If you can't prove it; if
it can't be proven, IT IS OBVIOUSLY
CONFUSION.

Let me quietly repeat that Conviction is that point

where spiritual truth meets with mental faculty.

Caution: According to ROM.12:1-2, the one that can

hear God and by extension can and should get
conviction is the man who has given his life to the
Lord. This man also has transformed his mind by the
Word through the Spirit.

And we saw that the reason we are required to renew

our mind is so that we can PROVE THE WILL OF
GOD.

For example:

Don't marry someone you don't like. I know some

religious guys would be arguing and that's because

they are actually telling lies to themselves. I will
slow down a little:

Issue:

1. God's will does not always appeal to the brain

immediately.
2. We can struggle with it but it will persist.
3. When we accept it, IMMEDIATELY we
would begin to like it. We would begin to see
the good of that Will. As the day goes by, we
would be discovering more and more
blessedness of it. So as the day goes by, we
would be knowing more and more that we
have made the best decision.

We shall soon look at how you to prove the will of

God. And the challenges of conviction.

TESTING YOUR CONVICTION.

The first words I probably heard on hearing God is,

'subject it to time'. So I will just pass them to you,
'SUBJECT IT TO TIME'. Like my discipler would
always say, time will tell.

It does not matter how you feel about this leading.

Can you please give it some time to see if it will still
be there? One way to know you are Not likely
following God is HASTE.

The flesh always wants it fast, fast and now.

The spirit is quite the opposite of this.

When you notice you want that guy or girl so badly

now, just now. Just know that GOD IS NOT PART.

I have heard guys say things like I want to get that

girl before another person double-crosses me. My
brother, I thought you wanted the will of God.

If you have prayed and you are sure it is God, that's

enough to relax.

For 'he that believes will not make haste'

CONVICTIONS AND TEMPTATIONS

Every conviction must be shaken and every faith

tried. There is always that moment when the feelings
are no more there. Or when something happens that
moves your eyes away from the promise of the
Father.

Sometimes, it is one little thing and other times it

could be a giant mountain. It could be external
(environmental) or internal (personal struggle).
Things like a vulgar word from a to-be; a mistake
somewhere, a cynical comment from a friend, a
sudden discovery of a dirty past, a total disapproval
from parents, tribal issues, health or financial
challenge.

The list could go on. But CONVICTION says: I

know what the Lord has told me and I'm sticking to
it. Conviction says, unless God says otherwise, this
is where I'm going. Men of conviction would
declare, neither death nor life can separate me from
the will of God.

This is different from a frivolous stubbornness. It is

a RESOLUTION that is orchestrated by
REVELATION(s). Sometimes I have had to go lock

myself in the room or retreat to a nearby bush to be
sure again if indeed I am on the track (current will
of God).

CONVICTION is sticking with the Word.

What's important is knowing what God is saying and

being sure it is Him. Then making up your mind to
die in it. I BET YOU THE WILL OF GOD IS
WORTH DYING FOR.

One thing is certain, when you stick with the Word,

you must come back with a testimony.

Hang in there and pray through.

Following:

Sometimes you would cry, you might even beat

yourself. Friends may even misunderstand you so
much that you are left alone. It could even get so bad
that God seemed silent at the moment probably
because you're too occupied with the problem to
hear Him. Whatever happens, STAND ON THE
PROMISE OF GOD?

Refuse to talk the devil's talk. Speak only the Word.

Stand and fight. After all, the scripture says that 'we
ought to war a good warfare in other to bring the
prophecy to pass'.

I feel I'm speaking to somebody directly: DON'T
GIVE IN. God has not finished with that situation
yet.

HOW DOES GOD SPEAK?

Some years ago, (2008) I got attracted to the tune of

the book of Hebrew so I decided to study the entire
book, verse by verse. Though I didn't finish but at
least I started. And the very first portion I met, would
be life transforming:

'God who at sundry times and in divers

manner spake in times past unto the fathers
by Prophets,

Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His

Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all
things, by whom also he made the worlds"
Heb. 1:1-2

The first thing that jolted me in that scripture is that

God is a moving God. He also has some things that
are old in his dealings with man.

Before, God spoke primary through the Prophets:

The prophets provide direction for the king and the

entire nation. And anyone who desires to hear God
must as a matter of fact go to the prophet.

Moreover, the scripture says, 'In these days has
spoken to us by His Son'.

Gleanings from the scriptures:

1. We do not need to depend on any external

source in order to hear God.
2. God has already said all he needs to say
concerning us (has spoken). We only need to
discover it.
3. You are entitled to know the will of God.

In these days, there are no specific people or group

of people that are exclusively authorized to know the
mind of God. The scripture reveals that ONLY the
Holy Spirit knows the mind of God (1 Cor. 2:11).
And every child of God has the Holy Spirit, and by
extension THE MIND OF GOD.

We must approach the issue of knowing the will of

God LIKE THOSE who have the mind of God.

What you are looking for is not on the outside, it is

rather on the inside. It is not a matter of hearing as,
IT IS A MATTER OF KNOWING, knowing by
UNDERSTANDING. It is about coming to an
AWARENESS; Much more like A DISCOVERING
something.

This is the crux of the matter.

MISCONCEPTIONS ON HEARING GOD

The very first problem in 'hearing' God is THE

WORD HEARING. As soon as we think about
hearing, we immediately begin to imagine some
form of auditory encounter.

Come to think of it, 'WHERE IS GOD?'

We lose touch with the reality any time we forget the

location of God.

It is only funny that we sing, pray and dance, 'God is

in me', but expect to hear Him from the outside. The
moment I understood this, I told myself that the next
time I hear an audible spiritual voice, it is either I
HAVE BACKSLID or Satan is playing tricks on me.
The third would be that I am spiritually deaf and God
has to do everything possible to prevent accident.
(Before you begin to ask question, just know that
there is no gift of the Holy Spirit known as, 'hearing')

The major problem I suppose is in a lack of

understanding of the shift from Old Testament
(dispensation) to the new.

In the old, people have to hear voices because the

speaker (God) was not in them. In the New

Testament, Saul had a voice because he was not yet
saved.

The emphasis is on #Knowing and NOT on hearing.

Even when you read 'God spoke to them', it was not
to their ears But Heart.

Let's put it this way:

1. The will of God is in you, (within you)

2. All you are expected to do is discover it.

Of course there are several ways to do this

discovery. We shall be looking at them later in this
series.

What you must know is that YOU (your spirit)

already know the will of God. Your recreated spirit
is perfect and all-knowing due to presence of the
Holy Spirit.

What we are talking about here is how to connect

what is in the spirit to the soul (mind, will, emotion).
We are talking about decoding what we already
know; that is, the interpretation of spiritual
impulses.

So there are different ways this happen.

Bottom line: It is not difficult, at least NOT as
difficult as you think to know the will of God. (Don't
forget interpretation of spiritual impulses).

WAYS GOD REVEAL HIS WILL TO US

In our last episode on this series, we discovered that

the New testaments hearing of God emphasizes
KNOWING against SPEAKING.

We established by the scriptures that the will of God

we seek, is already in our Spirit. And our Spirit
knows. So the issue is on DISCOVERING the will
of God.

In continuation, we shall proceed to look out ways

God's Spirit helps us know the mind of God (with
the knowing of our mind).

1. Rhema: In short, this means revealed word of

God. Some refer to it as spirit-inspired word
from the Bible. Like you are studying or
reading the Bible, and a verse or so, comes
out straight at you, with a definite meaning to
you on a particular issue. Most times the
verse does not necessarily mean anything
close to that when another person looks at it.

2. Trance: It is the same as vision but shorter.
Comes as brief flash of motion pictures

 illustrating a thing, while the individual
involved is partly conscious and partly
unconscious. It can happen anytime,
anywhere...Like momentarily watching a
brief movie scene.
3. Vision: It's the same as trance except that it
takes longer time and the participant is almost
totally unconscious in the earth realm but
actively participating in the other realm;
asking questions etc.
4. Dream: Actually means 'a recapitulation of
the past'. Perhaps that is why the scriptures
says, 'old men will dream dreams'. Of course
they do not have anything to look forward to,
so they are taking back to their past.

However, God uses dreams to speak to some

of his children. For some, this is how they can
understand. In dreams, you do not participate
but watch. You don't ask questions but just
watch, wake up and deduce the application.
5. Voice: This is not the same with external
voice, captured by human ears but internal
Voice in the heart. You hear people say
things like my mind is telling me something.
Most times, it is not their mind but their heart.

 It could as audible as if someone actually said
it.
6. Knowing: The last one is the most efficient
yet so controversial. It is for mature believers
in Christ Jesus. There is neither dream nor
vision. You just know THIS IS THE WILL
OF GOD. I know the usual question is, 'how
do you know?'

My answer is, 'anyhow' or 'somehow'. Your spirit

bears witness with God's Spirit that THIS IS IT. You
are so sure and you don't even know why you are
that sure. Your brain will still be arguing but your
heart is packing up to follow through.

HINDRANCES TO KNOWING THE WILL OF
GOD.

Everyone desires to know the exact will of God for

their lives. Few persons have made frantic efforts to
find this will. But only a few get to succeed. It is not
because God does not want us to know His mind.
Not at all. There are hindrances; things that would
not let us know what the Lord says concerning any
matter of interest. There are 3 major hindrances:

1. Our Past experience:

God is dynamic in operation. God is a moving God.

We cannot trap Him into one experience. He
chooses to appear to us anyhow He wills at every
given time. This is why He is God. This mentality
affected Peter when he had the vision to go to the
gentiles. Some people have built a Tabernacle
around a certain experience and are willing to
compel God to follow suite. And if it did not come
in that manner, it is not God.

2. Our current experiences:

Sometimes, it is our current dealings with God that

has become the matter. We must know that our

experiences, no matter how good they are, IS NOT
the word of God. We must be open to God at all
points and be submissive in all.

3. Other people's experience:

Over the years this has become a major problem in

the body of Christ. We have some elders who are
bent on replicating and establishing their
experiences as doctrines.

I hear people say things like, if you have not

dreamed a dream, it is not God. Some say, if you
have not received a scripture, you are not serious.
There are also those who have been waiting for God
to show them a sign, like he did for Gideon.

What about those submitting names here and there

for God to make the choice.

You may have heard people tell stories of how that

when they heard that this is their 'wife' did not like
her at first and they wrestled with God for 8 hours in
prayers. Now you are just liking yours upfront so
you reasoned, this must be flesh...

Solution:

Be humble: Stop desiring to have an elaborate story

to tell because yours may not be as dramatic.

Stay calm: Focus on what the Word says and be
content on it.

Stay flexible: Be willing to accept any move of God,

no matter how fresh.

Meditation: God is not our servant. We are God's

servants.

For example:

Someone has been waiting to get a sign. Every time

he wants to make a move, he will wait for a sign.
And if you confront him, he will tell you that this is
how God walks with him.

Brother, maybe that is how you have chosen to walk

with God. And you have successfully encouraged
God to be following you. The only problem is that
you don't know the way. That's just the problem.
