“Very good! Volcanoes are fascinating natural features that can be
found in different parts of the world. They are formed when magma
rises to the surface and erupts as lava. Each volcano is unique in its
shape and size. The lava can flow slowly or explode in a big
eruption. Volcanoes can be dangerous, but they also contribute to the
Earth's ecosystem by enriching the soil with minerals. Overall,
volcanoes are powerful and important elements of our planet's
natural processes.”

The Legend of Mayon Volcano

 Characters:
1. Daragang Magayon - The beautiful maiden, daughter of King
Makusog.

2. Ulap - A young traveler from the kingdom of Laguna who


falls in love with Daragang Magayon.

3. King Makusog - The generous and intelligent ruler of the


kingdom of Rawis and father of Daragang Magayon.

4. Patugo - The ruler of the neighboring kingdom of Iraya, who


becomes jealous and seeks revenge against Daragang
Magayon.
“Who was the princess with exceptional beauty?”
“Who was Magayon’s father?”
“Daragang Magayon”
 Setting: “King Makusog”
1. Place: The town of Darag in the province of Albay,
Philippines.
2. Time: Long ago, in a time before the present.

 Exposition:
1. In the kingdom of Rawis, ruled by King Makusog, resides his
daughter Daragang Magayon, known for her exceptional
beauty. She has a habit of bathing in the Yawa River at dawn.
One day, Ulap, a young traveler from Laguna, accidentally
discovers her secret ritual and becomes enamored by her
beauty.

 Rising Action:
2. Ulap becomes a secret admirer, watching Daragang Magayon
every morning. Eventually, he reveals himself to her, and
they fall deeply in love. Their relationship is happily blessed
by King Makusog. However, news of their impending
marriage reaches Patugo, the ruler of the neighboring
kingdom of Iraya. Patugo becomes enraged and convinces his
people to wage war against the kingdom of Rawis.

 Climax:
3. The kingdom of Rawis is caught off guard by the sudden
attack from Iraya. King Makusog is captured, and Daragang
Magayon offers herself as a ransom for his freedom. Ulap and
his clan arrive to support Rawis, and a fierce battle ensues.
“How did Patugo's jealousy and desire for revenge lead to the battle
between the kingdoms?”

 Falling Action:
4. During the battle, Daragang Magayon and Ulap embrace, but “Patugo's jealousy and desire for revenge against Daragang
Magayon's rejection of his love led to the battle between the
kingdoms. He convinced his people that her marriage to Ulap, a
foreign man, was an insult to their masculinity. This fueled their
anger and desire to capture King Makusog and demand Daragang
they are struck by a deadly arrow. They fall to the ground, Magayon as a ransom. Patugo's manipulation and jealousy incited
and the kingdom of Rawis mourns their loss. the conflict, resulting in the battle between the kingdoms.”
