Writing & Representing ▪ Plan coherent and well-thought out paragraphs using PACO.

You are advised to write between 200 and 300 words for this section.

You should look at the printout of a webpage on the next page, study the information carefully and
plan your answer before beginning to write.

Your Discipline Master chanced upon the webpage and came to know of a fight that happened in your
school recently. As the prefect patrolling the area where the fight took place, your Discipline Master
Has asked you to write an eyewitness report about the details of the incident.

In your eyewitness report, you must include the following details:

• what you saw when you were patrolling

• who were involved in the fight
• what happened during the fight
• what you did
• who came to help

Write your report in clear, accurate English using a formal and objective tone to provide your
Discipline Master with a full picture of the incident. Use your own words as far as possible.

You may include any other relevant details which will assist your Discipline Master in his
investigation.

An Eyewitness Report - Planning Paragraphs and Generating Ideas

Planning our essays is crucial. If we have not planned what we want to write, we run the huge risk of
spending way more time we had intended on writing the entire essay! This is because we are taking
unnecessary pauses. We can write our essays more efficiently and effectively by taking 5 to 10
minutes to plan and generate ideas before we start writing. This way, we can kill two birds with one
stone by saving time and improving our flow of writing!

Let’s use the P-A-C-O Planning Framework to plan our letter:
