In Britain, someone buys one mobile phone

In 1995, Pierre Omidyar decided to try and buy
more Pez dispensers* to add to his girlfriends’
collection.
But although he was sure there were other
collectors around the world who wanted to buy
and sell Pez dispensars, he didn’t know how to
find them. This is what gave him the brilliant idea
of starting a virtual trading company for people to
buy and sell their possessions. And so eBay was
born.
Today on eBay you can buy and sell absolutely
anything you can think of – except for Fireworks,
drugs, weapons, or other illegal items. Remember
those Mickey Mouse socks that Grandma gave
you last Christmas but you haven’t worn yet?
Well, someone somewhere has an enormous
collection and would love to buy yours!

minutes. Since the company made its first sale
in Britain in 1999, more than 7.6 million
people have used the website to get rid of
things they don’t want or to find essential
piece for their Star Wars, batman, Spiderman
collection. Over 114 million users have
registered with eBay around the world since it
started.
Many computer and electronics companies
have crashed since the end of the 9i0’s but
eBay continues to grow. In 2003 revenue
increased by 79% to 2.17 billion dollars!
So, what are you waiting for? Clean out your
wardrobes, look under the bed, find your old
comics, those barbies, your stamp collection
and start selling! Remember, you might not
want them but somene somewhere does!
