WATER POLLUTION

What is it?

It is defined as the accumulation of one or more

substances foreign to water that can generate a large
number of consequences, including imbalance in the lives
of living beings (animals, plants and people).

causes

There are various causes of water pollution and to

distinguish them into two groups we can mention natural
pollution and artificial pollution.

In relation to our activities, the one we are interested in

mentioning is artificial pollution, since it appears when
people interact with the environment. In general, we
associate it with wastewater and industrial dumps, as well
as the use of pesticides and toxic fertilizers.

Water pollution control

According to the WHO, by controlling water pollution,

effective management of water quality can be carried out.
This control focuses on:

• the identification, classification and priority of local

problems related to water quality and pollution control;

• the development and implementation of policies,

planning and coordination schemes, preparation and
adaptation of legislation, monitoring programs, surveillance
of compliance with regulations, training and dissemination
of information;
• management tools and instruments, such as regulations,
water quality standards, monitoring systems, water quality
models, and impact assessment;

• Long-term strategies for water pollution control based on

realistic short-term goals.

In the WHO we have groups that are in charge of helping to

clean oceanic parts of the world to reduce water pollution

ways to help reduce pollution

examples of everyday situations

An example of contamination is when she was near the

faucet and did not turn it off.
or she was using the faucet to brush her teeth and didn't
turn it off
in this case the person would be you (name of the person)

Other example is:

when a person throws garbage into a lake, one should tell
him:

You hadn't to throw the garbage into the lake because

pollutes no only the wáter but also the animals that live
there

The UNO has 3 sustainable development projects that help

water itself, which are 6, 13 and 14
the 6th being clean water and sanitation

the 13th action for the weather

and the 14th underwater life

All of them help and contribute to eradicate water pollution

since the 6th wants the water to always be clean and
drinkable, the 13th does actions for the environment and
water influences a lot and the last of marine life by wanting
it to find " clean" waters for all the animals that inhabit it
