C. Activity (Read-a-loud)
(The teacher will give the
students a story book about
the lesson.)

“Friends in Volume” (Students will read-a-loud)

One day, there were three figures

who were lost in a big city. Their
names are Pyra, whose shape is a
pyramid; Cubi, whose shape is a
cube; and Recta, whose shape is a
rectangular prism.

They have a common problem; that's

why they went to the city to find the
solution. While walking, their paths
met. Hi! I am Recta. I am here
because I have a problem. I don't
know how to find my volume, Recta
said. Pyra was shocked when she
heard that she had the same problem.
I am here too because I don't know
how to find my volume, Pyra said.
What a coincidence I am here
because I also don't know how to
find my volume, Cubi said.

I have an idea: Let us all be friends

and find together the solution to our
problem, Recta said. Pyra and Cubi
both agreed. They walk continuously
until they reach the end of the city.
At the end of the city, they saw an
open strange house, among all of the
houses this one is different as it is
the most colorful one and contains
different shapes.

When the three figures came inside

the house, they saw three different
doors. The shape of the first door
looks like a rectangular prism. The
shape of the second door looks like a
cube. The shape of the third door
looks like a pyramid. Is this the
solution we have been looking for?
Cubi asked. Let us all open the door
to find out, Pyra answered.

The three figures opened the doors,

and after opening them, a bright
light came out. Afterward, there
were letters and numbers that
revealed the formula for finding
their volume. The formula in finding
the volume of a rectangular prism is
V= length x width x height or
V=lwh. The formula in finding the
volume of a cube is V=
sidexsidexside or s3 .The formula in
finding the volume of a square
pyramid is V= lengthx x width x
lwh
height ÷ 3 or .

The end.

D. Analysis

city to find their
volume. The three has
a common problem.

5. What did they do to EA: They walk continuously

their problem? city.

Nice one! They walk

continuously until they
reach the end of the
city.

6. When they reached the EA: The three figures saw a

end of the city, what strange house.

7. Why is it a strange EA: It is a strange house

because it is different among all
house?
the houses. It is colorful and it
contains lots of shapes.

Excellent! It is
different among all the
houses it is colorful
and it contains a lot of
shapes.

8. What did they see EA: They saw three different

house? them.

9. What did they do to

EA: They opened the door.
the doors?

10. After opening what did

EA: They saw a bright light

E. Abstraction
(the teacher will use 3d pull
up nets)
Volume - is the amount of
space inside a solid figure. It
is measured in cubic units.

Let us find the volume of the

following:

1. Rectangular Prism
V= length x width x
height or V=lwh.

What is the length of the rectangular EA: The length of the

prism? rectangular prism is 7cm.
What is the width of the rectangular EA: The width of the
prism? rectangular prism is 3cm.

What is the height of the rectangular EA: The height of the

prism? rectangular prism is 3cm.

We are going to substitute the value

for us to find the volume
V= length x width x height or (students will answer)
V=lwh. V= length x width x height or
V=lwh.
V= (7cm)(3cm)(4cm)
V= (21 cm)(4cm) V= (7cm)(3cm)(4cm)
V= 84 cm3 V= (21 cm)(4cm)
V= 84 cm3

Do you have any question? EA: None! Ma’am Castillo

Everything clear? Yes! Ma’am Castillo

2. Cube
V= side x side x side or s3.

To get the volume we need to

multiply length x width x height but
since a cube has an equal sides /
same side we will just multiply the
sides three times.

What is the given measurement of EA: 2m, Ma’am Castillo!

the side?

Very good! Now what are we going EA: 2m x 2m x 2m

to do?

V= 2m x 2m x 2m EA: 8m3

Very good! The volume of this cube

is 8m3.

Do you have any question? EA: None! Ma’am Castillo

Everything clear? Yes! Ma’am Castillo

Good to hear! Let us proceed to
figure number 3!

3. Pyramid
V= lengthx x width x
lwh
height ÷ 3 or .
3

What is the length of the pyramid? EA: 6cm

What is the width of the pyramid? EA: 5cm

What is the height of the pyramid? EA: 4cm

To get the volume we need to

multiply length x width x height and
divide it to three.

V= length x width x height ÷ 3 or EA: V= (6cm)(4cm)(5cm)

lwh
.
3
120
(6 cm)(4 cm)(5 cm) EA: V =
V= 3
3
120
V=
3 EA: V= 40 cm3.

V= 40 cm3.

Very good! The volume of this

pyramid is 40 cm3. EA: None! Ma’am Castillo

Do you have any question?

Yes! Ma’am Castillo
Everything clear?

Since there are no questions, I will

group you into three.
F. Application
